372 Prices Seem to be Falling

Post by logan2z » Sat Nov 30, 2013 6:31 pm

It wasn't long ago that a LNIB 372 was going for well over $8K. Now I'm seeing asking prices barely over $7K. Any clue why 372 prices are falling?

The Paneristi guys don't want them because they are not SE or LE. Regular guys don't want them because most look silly wearing a 47mm watch. Also, Panerai has made tons of them.

Although never officially confirmed by Panerai, people hoped N was it, then O came, now P is out.
Plus as Chris mentioned it is too big for most, plus plexi, plus 8-day Manual is coming out.
IMHO once 44mm luminor base comes out with 8-day and sapphire, 372 will fall even further.

Still my favorite PAM, at any price (excluding the 203 and 21). The case is OP's best, and the font and plexi take it to the next level. It's a steal at $7K.

I agree at 7K it's a great Pam, at 10K msrp - no way.

557 might help with the size for some. When I tried on 372 I thought to myself that I would welcome the crown guard to be on the other side

The 557 is an example of why I just don't take OP seriously anymore. C'mon, a little inspiration would be a good thing, instead of just flipping around a 372 case and adding a $1K premium for doing so.

I'm surpised with how many people enjoy the 47mm size. Obviously if you have a big wrist it may be perfect but damn is it ever big on me. The design of OP's 47mm watches is awesome!

Well destro is nothing new to Panerai, I wouldn't call that a sell out move per se :)
However charging 1K more for rotating the dial 180 is silly

Soo true. At least on 127/217 they varied the dial.

I really like the 368 as well - frankly I think that's a step above the 557.

Zak 368 is gold, my favorite destro Pam, period.
Too bad I didn't pick it up before prices got insane

Notice sub seconds and a 3, correct shape and length of hands (unlike 372/422). Panerai please make again 127/217/368

I'd be all over that. Current 127/217 prices still amaze me - sure they're LEs, but $20K??

Double pencil hands on the 372 have historical precedent, and I actually like them a lot.
The 368 kinda got overshadowed in the 2011 SIHH releases, with the 372 and 382 getting much of the attention. It's a nice piece, but overpriced IMO for a Ti destro. If they make it a non-destro in SS, it would be a worthy competitor for the 233.
