Which would you buy?

Post by outtatime » Fri Oct 11, 2013 7:27 am

H-series PAM005 with box but no papers, 90%+ condition with rubber strap, $3750

K-series PAM005, LNIB w/papers, rubber and unworn calf, still has caseback sticker, $4500

Academic since I owe Zack money right now.

I wouldn't buy a Pam without papers.

ditto - I'd go for the K-series with papers and the extra strap. Worth the extra $$ IMO.

Of course if you owe money - settle your debts first.

If I were you, I would buy a Rolex Deepsea, since you seem to have your heart set on one, regardless of what else you purchase.

I would only buy a PAM without papers if it cost $25,000, I didn't know much about the watch, wasn't interested in opening it up, and I wanted to sell it for a profit. That seems like a sure winning strategy.

Absolutely true. As a general rule, the more expensive the watch, the more trustworthy the seller, and the less need for any due diligence.

I have watch ADD unfortunately. I blame Brice because I still have his DOXA 750. Must be contaminated. :)

I'd prefer papers, but it depends on two things; the seller and whether you'd be keeping it or likely flipping. If keeping, I'd go the cheaper route and put the difference into a complete service, as both are likely due......

This. Once you send it in to Panerai for service, there will be some paperwork from Panerai. And a fresh service to boot
