Only way to go is a sandwich dial. The depth it has takes the dial to a whole other level of bad assery. I loved my 176. You can't go wrong with a Ti.

They feel that way because that is the essence of the brand. They are simple manual wind dive tools. All the stuff on the new in-house autos is for the new customer that really wants a Panerai, just not a real Panerai.
I guess for me, if I'm dropping 5k or more on a watch, I want more from it....thats why I couldn't get one of the "real" Panerais.. ..ill stick with ones like my 243 and 312 I guess. I like being a poseur panerai owner and not a real one...fits my style.....:)

I owned a 243. It is an awesome watch I would gladly own again, but it is not what Panerai is truly about. Nothing wrong with that.

Depends what you want. 111 or 112 have the sandwich dial. 000 and 005 have painted (sausage) dial and logo.

My personal fav is the zero cuz I like the logo base model - closer to the roots.

I don't know much about Pam's but I like this one and it's the one I would buy given the choice. Seems pretty versatile.

The only manual watch I would buy would be under $500. And if you haven't diven a automatic Porsche you are missing out.

If you've never driven a manual Porsche you've never driven a Porsche :)
It's like Chris said there's nothing wrong with an automatic Pam, it's just not what it's about.
OK I will use Porsche again, it's their Cayenne vs. 911
How's that? :)

I know. They are great. Yet if I'm gonna buy another Porsche it'll be a manual, I won't even have think about it.

Is the 111 the best bet among the entry level PAMs?

A friend just bought a 2014 Carrera S with the PDK. Hard to fault it but I still prefer the manual gearbox. Just more fun to drive - at least when you're not in traffic.

I do love the manual Porche's (of course the few I have driven were older) but the newer automatic Porsche's are a whole new ball game. And the Cayenne vs. 911 is totally two different models and can't be compared no matter what.

This, I don't know where you guys live but i would hate to drive a manual Porsche in traffic. I do love the feel of driving a stick but 70% I would rather have a auto. And the way traffic is these days I will stick with a auto.

I drive my '87 Carrera to work every day, and SF Bay Area traffic can suck. Sometimes it's a pain but IMO it's a small price to pay for getting to drive a little piece of automotive history. That said when my wife is away on business I commute in her auto Beemer

I understand, I had a performance puck clutch in my old S4 and that one kill your leg in traffic!!!! :banghead: But it kept eating clutches and was the only solution to try and keep it out of the shop. :crybaby:

A lot of people today didn't learn on sticks. Honestly, if one hates the idea of driving a manual in any circumstances, they shouldn't have one. The advantages of Porsche's new gen PDK trans will likely only be appreciated by those who have had seat time in a manual model. I'd still rather be engaged although I learned to enjoy good autos a long time ago. Right foot: loud pedal; left foot: anchors aweigh. Keeps you on your toes. So to speak.

This kind of proves the point. You would love the authentic experience, but it is a pain in the ass so you buy the consumer version.
