This is why I love Panerai

Post by dukerules » Wed Jul 10, 2013 12:12 pm

Literally, this, a vintage 6152/1. Some guys love the pre-V/Bettarini-cased watches, I've always loved the vintage Panerais. As close to aesthetic perfection as a watch gets for me. And this is why, despite all of the overwhelming BS and nonsense surrounding the brand and many of its fans today, I absolutely love my 372.

You and I both, Rahul. Those early PAMs: the 6152, 6154, and 3646 were amazing milestones in horological history. It's impressive that watches designed/made in the 1930's are current with today's standards. The simplicity and brilliance of design hooked me in an instant, and my issues with pricing, distribution, etc. aside, there are no other watches, outside of the brand, that I would rather own than my 194 or 372. At any price point. Period.

I love everything about my 000. It could easily be my only watch and cover every base from the beach to the rare event where I had to wear a suit

Looks way newer than vintage
The hands give it away. For being the most homaged watch around, it is easy to see why

Super nice. Is the crystal original ? And I understood hands are changed out on service. Is this a never touched watch?
Oozes quality... pictures can be deceiving but if this is really original.. its sick. Congrats on owning it

That watch is not mine. It's on the Wiegmann & Ehlers site, so you bet it's all original.

I love my 000 as well. But the right 372 could replace it...

The 372 is great, but I would rather have the 000 and my Sinn. I couldn't afford it otherwise.

The cost of getting a 372 has kept me in my 000, but maybe some day...

I love that watch so much, it has a bit vintage look, but it brings on more style with it. Once my grandfather bout me Panerai watch, it was a great experience. He told me that 2 things should be expensive in a man's look: his shoes and his watch. I still follow his advice!

What Drew said.
"30ish years of martial arts and I've actually had the honor of training lots of LEO, spec ops and even SEAL team 6 on base, fitness training, not martial arts, but still the coolest thing I've done.

Full on egg head corporate job and I fly quite a bit so I'm really looking forward to adding to my collection of TSA friendly self defense tools. I have amcouple tactical pens, but I want to up the game and get into some custom stuff. Been watch obsessed for a while but this seems more fun.

Thanks for letting me play! "
