Zulu / Nato for the PAM

Post by koda240 » Tue Jan 29, 2013 5:47 pm

Damn, I really want to try a Zulu or Nato for my 243, but think it will flop around with the weight of it. Are there any straps other than leather that are perhaps a bit thicker that might hold it more steady?

Any of you have pics with a PAM on one I could check out?

Thanks guys.

This would be my first choice on the 243 too!

Canvas works too.

I'm actually ordering this from GSD

I think Drew is making me a canvas strap but not sure at this point.

Honestly, not an isofrane fan. Not sure why, just don't like the design or something. I like the look of a zulu and nato, but no luck with anything yet.

Not a fan of the Isofrane on my 243 to be honest, I prefer the stock rubber. Canvas is the best to me and I also have a few customs leather from Joe I love!

Is that Coffee Dublin? I have the identical strap being made right now.

Brice, what I mean is that I don't want a leather nato or zulu. The GSD is bad ass and I think it will work well with the 243.

I love rubber straps but the OEM one doesn't fit great. I like the velcro one a lot, but it's not for all occasions.

While we're on the topic and Drew is here, do you all agree that a 130/80 is the best size for a 7in. wrist. I've never had one that long and just want to make sure before I order GSD. Drew, is probably thinkin', "geez, what is it with this guy and the damn sizing.". I swear I'm not that nuts in other areas of my life. hahaha

SWEET! I will surely look at your pics for some threads to see what it looks like. Is your Black Rad with a 130/80?

More important than the length is hole placement. If the holes are punched in the wrong spot it doesn't matter what size the strap is.

True dat... Also L2L lengths, strap thickness and buckle style could affect fit.
Yep. The correct length for a Flieger with 22mm lugs will be completely different than the length for a Seiko 6309 or a Tuna because the lug to lug is vastly different. As for strap thickness, I will add 5mm for a very thick strap and subtract 5mm for a very thin one.

You people are crazy. Isofrane works great on the 243.

While traveling last week I spotted a guy on the terminal train wearing a Regatta on a black nato. It looked great. I've got a black zulu and may give it a whirl on the 243, but generally its on Isofrane, which I much prefer to the OEM rubber. Drew's canvas works well also.

Another canvas pic. I love this strap so much I almost kept the watch just to have this watch-strap combo:

I just got a really well made, longer 24mm black nato that I put on my 106 (Pam Sub) a couple days ago. I will take some pics tonight, but this is the first 24mm nato I found that has been long enough to fit back through the keepers and fit well on my 7+ inch wrist. I bought it on Ebay, but will have to look up the seller's name. It is a full 12 inches vs. most natos that are 10.5 or 11 inches.

Gnomon Zulu Extremes are so long in 24mm that I had to trim off at least an inch for my 7.5" wrist.

I got the one I have on the Ecozilla for $10 and it works well, supposing they are more or less the same size, I would say that it might workout and for that little cash you can easily check it out. It's a 24mm Zulu.

Did you a chance to grab shots in the nato? Really curious to see what it would look like. Thanks bud
