Paneraphobia

Post by mattcantwin » Tue Dec 11, 2012 2:48 pm

For a good while I have been grabbing other watches to wear instead of the 112.

I realized I was protecting it from possible "damage" that typically occurs when I wear a watch.

I do not view the Rolex, Tudor or any of my other watches this way and pretty much wear them without worry.

I don't recall this feeling of apprehension with the 24...

guess the 112 just looks so pristine and protected in the box.

Finally decided to get it off the pedestal and on the wrist.

Wearing it now and working to battle through this "affliction".

Should I prove unable to do this on my own, I will reach out for assistance from the DWC community. :shifty:

It's a tough watch. Wear it like you stole it!

The negative is it scratches easily. The positive is those scratches are very easy to polish out. Wear it like it was meant to be.

it wants to be worn. you're hurting its feelings by keeping it the box.

That's what I was going to say.

Just wear it and Cape Cod it.

Wear it and enjoy Matt...

Hey Matt, I can sympathize. I've left the Vintage AT on the winder because it's just too darned pretty. We both need to strap on and enjoy the ride :)

I agree.
I've had to sell a couple because I was too afraid to take them out for fear of scratching. That means its time to let go so someone else can enjoy it.

Polished surfaces. I would bet you'd have similar feelings about most Breitling watches.

PS: I might too, but don't tell anyone. The scratches on the acrylic crystal on the 1675 are testing me.

Wear it. These shiny PAMs look better with scratches and swirls. I wear my highly polished 372 all the time (and you can tell).

Scratches really don't bother me at all. I guess I'm in the minority. Dings and dents might, but that'll happen to any finish.

I had to have my Blackbird Big Date re-brushed/polished professionally before I sold it.
I wore it every day for six months and it showed, swirrlies everywhere.
But damn that watch was the shit. I miss it.
