Panerai Grail?
Re: Panerai Grail?
Those don't appear too wearable. Cool, but a bit humongous.
I like the new 425 Rad, the homage to the original prototype with the dots and dashes instead of numbers. It's like the 429 (limited to 750 so near impossible to get) but with gold hands instead of blue and a small pig on the dial.
Second hand will be the way to go with this one.

Panerai Grail?
Found this piece over at Watch Commander, unfortunately it was sold:
Egyptian Navy, The real deal, ca. early fifities.
Need a decent wrist to carry it though... 60mm.
Came with a compass and a depth gauge also:

I'll bet it cost more than my house. My grail P used to be the 127/217, the 372 has ruined that though.

But then again, is it something that can be used?

Re: Panerai Grail?
Now that I have my 372 I'm pretty much done with modern Panerai and the ridiculous and petty "m8s is gr8!" man-child culture that has grown up around them ( ), but I'd still love to own this vintage set.
To wear? Nah, but it would be cool to have all the same.

Adam

Re: Panerai Grail?
I still haven't warmed up to Panerai. If there are any at the GTG, I may try one out for a bit to get a feel for it. Cool looking watches, but when they are on my wrist they just don't have that badassedness that I would expect...

Re: Panerai Grail?
I was like that, too until I actually tried one on and it changed my perception, or at least for the one I tried on. as for the 'risti community, well I don't know jack about it, but like all rolex owners are not 1st class a$%hole alpha dogs, I just try to separate the people from the people from the brand, no matter the brand, as much as I canandrema wrote:I still haven't warmed up to Panerai. P.S. cool gear
Re: Panerai Grail?
They make the newer version, which I believe is called egiziano?
60mm, yeah that's big.
