Am I nuts for even considering this?
Now, I absolutely LOVE my 372 - my favorite PAM I've ever owned and I've owned several. But, a local buddy of mine has a 233 and it's a piece of work - and definitely tempting.
I like the 233 because it wears smaller on the wrist, the domed sapphire is HOT, not to mention 8 day reserve and GMT function. It also can handle a rubber strap and that can't really be said of the 372. The big daddy has been relegated to weekend duty mostly due to lack of a date function and I think I would wear the 233 a bit more because of that.
I would probably be ahead $1,000-1,500 with cash my way from watch/straps. So would you even consider it?

Not to mention now there is definitely at least one more year of 372s making the scarcity factor drop down a notch.

Re: Am I nuts for even considering this?
The 233 is a great watch but I like simple dials and functions for PAMs. Therefore, the 372 wins vs the 233 even without the date function. It just has a much better look overall, IMO.
Re: Am I nuts for even considering this?
I think if my wrist could support the 372, I'd favor that one. If the 233 is a better fit, than that's the one for you.

Re: Am I nuts for even considering this?
Sounds like you're already leaning towards it. I'm not a Pam guy so take this for what it's worth but I like the looks of the 233 and an 8 day power reserve is sweet!

They're different enough you should get both like a good 'risti. But if I had to choose, I'd keep the 372. I believe the hype.

Re: Am I nuts for even considering this?
I borrowed Adamo's 372 and it really grew on me despite me feeling like it looked ludicrously large at first for me.
Is the 233 that much smaller?
I mean, I think either way you can't go wrong but a lot of PAM collectors seem to hold the 372 in more esteem.
Personally, I would go with what fits better and what tickles your cockles.

My two favorite modern sub $10K (used) PAMs. But the 233 gets owned in this matchup. Stick with the 372. Now if you could swing a second PAM...

And Brandon, I think you're nuts to let go of the 372 -- God's gift to the 'risti faithful -- for a 233, but if you've gotta do it, then you've gotta do it.

Don't worry about which one the Ristis prefer, which do you prefer?

Re: Am I nuts for even considering this?
If the 233 speaks to you, then by all means you should make the switch.
Re: Am I nuts for even considering this?
The problem is, just like when I (briefly) had the 390 and went through this same decision (that time solely on price) - the warm glow of the acrylic crystal drew me back in. I simply can't justify two Pam's though if I'm to stick to my guns on keeping the collection numbers down.
For now, I think I'm going to keep enjoying the 372 - first time in my life I've waited a year for a watch, actually bought it, and didn't regret it shortly after.

Re: Am I nuts for even considering this?
I will concede that the 372 isn't a daily wear watch, whereas the 233 could be. The 233's domed sapphire is uber cool (though I still prefer the 372's plexi), and the 8-day manual movement is sweet. If you need another daily wear piece to accompany your SubC and Steelfish, the 233 might be the one. I do think that if you're going to own only one PAM, the 372 is the one.
Re: Am I nuts for even considering this?
I love the 372 and was able to see AC's in person--super cool watch but at 47MM was a bit big... The 233 is a beauty with a few bells and whistles...It's a tough call...Like others have said, go with the one that fits best and your most comfortable with..

I'm in a Pam koolaid guzzling binge at the moment, so they all look good to me..
Good luck with your decision. Seems you can't go wrong either way..

I love them both so I am going to take the easy way out and get the one that makes you happier. Don't worry about what you are supposed to like better or what is hot over at Risti.

If 372 isn't being worn, hell yeah! The 233 is badassery...though I prefer the 320. I know the 233 is the "better" of the two, it's an aesthetic thing to me and the flat-ter crystal on the 320 wears smaller, but seems to look bigger. Anyway, 233-yep, do it.

Re: Am I nuts for even considering this?
Resurrecting this thread, because I'm considering doing this. Kinda like the BP FF-NSA trade I made: I absolutely love both watches, but I can't afford to own both. I will say that the 372 is strictly a weekend watch for me, but the 233 would be as well. And I do love the sexy 372 case, and the awesome plexi.
Re: Am I nuts for even considering this?
That's a tough one, Rahul. Would love to own either - the 233 is a more manageable size, but the 372 is just too cool.
Sorry, I'm no help.

Being honest, I really missed a seconds hand when I had the 112.

Am I nuts for even considering this?
I'm a sucker for the 'historic' PAMs so I'd vote 372 if you can pull off the size.
Re: Am I nuts for even considering this?
Yep, and I really did feel that way then (although those who know me know that I have always loved the 233, and nearly spent my 372 kitty on Luke's the summer before the 372 came out). Emotionally, I love the 372-the plexi, font, and the case all add up to almost the perfect modern PAM for me, and I really did strongly prefer the 372 when it came out. I guess I'm still a sucker for that amazing domed sapphire, and maybe the smaller size (especially as I'm blessed with stick-like wrists).JBZ wrote:I have no dog in this hunt, but I must now quote you from above.dukerules wrote:My two favorite modern sub $10K (used) PAMs. But the 233 gets owned in this matchup.
