buckle advice?

Post by jtbenson » Tue Nov 07, 2017 10:26 am

Have a few 24mm straps for PAM that I acquired sans buckles.
Checked all the known vendors and prices are all over the place, i.e., $7 to $50. (Very happy with the three aegir roller buckles I have, but looking for something more in the pre-v or oem panerai style for these straps). I've stripped a few of the cheaper panatime buckles, so looking to try something a bit nicer this go round.
Anyone have a recommendation for a known entity quality option, i.e., well machined, nice curve to fit and quality screws/threads?
I've read great things about the gsd pre-v buckles, but at $30 a pop, would like to hear good things from someone here before i jump in on those.
Any feedback or recommendations greatly appreciated...
thanks deedub!

The GSD buckles are excellent, but a little chunky. You can’t beat the thumbnail buckles from SAS, in my opinion.

Edit: Greg sells his buckles without the GSD monogram if that’s not your thing.

thanks Chris!
forgot about SAS, and you are right, I have two of their rubber straps and buckles are very well made, and a great size/fit.

Those Rob Montana Pre-V buckles look super thick.

Majority of buckles are made in China. I use 3 different suppliers, but don't sell them separately.

A number of the strapsmith ones are made by a friend of mine and laser cut hence the higher price.

Some are custom designed etc. if your willing to pay

If you look at enough. They tend to look the same. Can order thicker buckles if you buy a minimum
