PAM212 Chrono stopping...

Post by PGERRITY » Sat Oct 22, 2016 8:25 am

Anyone know what would cause this? When the Chrono comes around to the :58 it freezes, and if I tap the case it starts back up. Also if I stop it and reset the Chrono and then tap the case, it will go forward about :05 seconds. It also stops the timekeeping as well. I let the Chrono run for a while and noticed it was 15 minutes slow, then realized it was stopped completely but the small seconds were still running :puke:

I couldn't see because of the reflection on the glass but did the minute counter move when you tapped it and the second hand past 12?

I my VERY humble opinion I'd say there's some resistance in the mechanism that moves the minute counter as I think they start to engage at 58 seconds?

No, minute counter doesn't move. This was just serviced by Panerai in April, so this a little frustrating.... :banghead:

Can't help at all, but that sucks. I assume since it was just serviced it's under warranty?

I'm assuming, as long as the warranty transfers, it was not sent there by me. I really hope it transfers, now that I think of it haha

If you have a good watchmaker it might be best to use him.

Could just need an adjustment to one of the engaging wheels that connects with the sweep gear.

The gear in the center is your sweep gear. One on the left meshes with it to start the sweep hand. That gear is always moving as it's in contact with the bottom gear

The bridge the middle one is on has an offset screw to move the gear closer or away so it meshes properly.

What the problem is. I can't say. Could just be a small piece of dirt that got trapped. Even a piece of lint that fell off a lab coat and not seen.

Sucks to have it sent in again. Ask for a free strap as compensation. Worst they can say is no

Can the seller help to communicate with Panerai. Act as though he is sending it under warranty

Pat, if they give you the run around then let me know. We will get it fixed for a super reasonable price.

I was just about to suggest that it needed a service. Something seems to be interrupting the mechanism
