We’ve had a similar one on here. It is hard to wind with the crown guards. Someone on here suggested flipping the watch over and winding it face down. It’s much easier.

They're designed for hand wound perpetual calendar watches.

Yeah, it's called "your fingers".

Jezus, maybe that watch isn't for that guy. He should sell it and move on

The squale case design makes it easier to do it like this.

I definitely think it’s easier to wind upside down. The issue I have is the crown on my ST2 is kind of difficult to pull out. Don’t remember that with the first Speedy.

My Speedy crown is hard to pull out too. It definitely requires some fingernail prying.

Easiest way to wind the speedy is by holding it face down. Something about it fits your fingers better.

It's not the main spring. It would have to go through a gear train to move the crown, not likely. It's the o-ring seal. Your old one was burnished and needed replacing. The new just has more "spring" to it. If you wind it and hold it for a while, the o-ring will spring back while you hold and you won't see any movement. Movement is a sign your o-ring is still supple and sealing. That's not to say if it doesn't move it's bad.
I did not know this but makes perfect sense.
