X-33 Skywalker incoming
X-33 Skywalker incoming
It's been a long time coming since I stupidly moved the Gen2 X-33 Graham sold me. The bracelet failed at a non-removable link which was deemed 'irreparable' by Omega, and so I sold it being in a bracelet-only sort of mode, plus the cost of replacement was huge and it discouraged me. Dumb. I did end up parting out every piece of the bracelet in various sections and extra links, including the broken non-removable linked sections to someone who just wanted to try repairing it, for the total sum of about $400 on ebay.
Admittedly, I still like the quirkiness and look of the Gen1/2 over the Skywalker, but the Skywalker certainly has the same sort of looks, and a much better display. It's a tad larger but wears all the same when I tried it on years ago.
While the PO 8900 43.5mm blue was fantastic, the polished hands started to get hard to see at first glance, and I wear corrective lenses. Just wanted a daily wearer with white hands on black again, as I found myself wearing the 3570.50 a lot during the last couple months.
Might have to keep my eyes peeled for a Gen1/2 as a dedicated nato watch -- which it does superbly as those who've owned it here can attest -- but for now it'll be the Skywalker, and I hope it sticks long term.
Should be here Friday afternoon. Pretty stoked.

Love the Gen 1 I picked up and can’t wait to see pics of the Skywalker. It’s an amazing step in the evolution of the X-33. Congrats

Re: X-33 Skywalker incoming
I saw that thank you. Mine is bnib with bracelet. Just gotta wait until tomorrow for it to arrive.
Re: X-33 Skywalker incoming
Arrived today so I'm still getting acquainted...
First thing's first... This is positively the hardest bracelet I've adjusted and you know I've done a few ... Think the smallest screws you've dealt with and half that size (.5mm with .33mm threaded portion), and then dealing with stubborn Factory loctite on top of the Ti-to-SS screw gumminess. Bring your A-game, patience, the proper screw driver, ample downward pressure, and purple loctite.
Second thing which I knew coming-in but it's different in practice (but very cool): You set the UTC portion of the watch first for current UTC time and date. At that point you reference a UTC chart for your time zone for TZ1 and TZ2. TZ1 always displays on analog throughout the LCD displays. So if you have TZ2 or UTC on the LCD, TZ1 still shows on the hands.
For example. UTC is set and now I want pacific standard time which is -7UTC Simple scroll bacward to -7 on the TZ1 setting and press set. Voila! Hands move to that setting.
TRUE GMT folks. Haven't tried the other features yet but the countdown, chrono, and multiple alarms speak for themselves. MET and PEI are a different beast altogether...
Re: X-33 Skywalker incoming
Well this one came, left, and is coming back to me tomorrow. Great service from the dude I bought it from. EOL indicator came on about 5 hours after sizing the bracelet. Shit happens.

Re: X-33 Skywalker incoming
They took care of it within a week. That latest pic was taken today.
When I got it back the analog was off again -12 seconds and I was rather upset. A guy on omega forum said I had to go into synch mode and reset the hands to the digital display as the maker possibly never did.
Was easy as all you have to do is go into battery saving mode (by pulling out the crown), at which point you can advance the hands to second, minute, or hour.
I thought the hour advance was strange unless it’s supposed to act as another time reference for T1, which is constantly displayed on the analog. You press it and it advances the hour and minute hand a full hour like an additional GMT function.
At any rate I aligned all the hands to 12o’clock in power saving mode, pushed in the crown, and the analog has been on the mark with the digital display ever since.
As a gen2 owner there’s certainly a lot more to this watch, but have read the synch sequence for the gen1/2 takes an engineering degree

Re: X-33 Skywalker incoming
There’s an app for iPad that’ll walk you through everything the watch can do.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.
Re: X-33 Skywalker incoming
that app is so good that I abandoned my search for the watch and when i get the itch i just open the app and play...
Re: X-33 Skywalker incoming
Have an iPad but it’s work issued. Can use it for personal use with WiFi but can’t download an ap.
There’s a couple good videos from 2014 covering most.

A real watch nerd would go out and buy an iPad just for the app.

Hopefully this one sticks for a bit or possibly for the long haul... that’s the good and the bad with these watches. They’re still quite expensive even after discount or used, unlike their gen1/2 brethren which are getting harder to find in good condition cheap, so hopefully the idea of selling for a huge loss will help it stick for the long haul as that mentality has worked for me in the past. Omega can still service the 1666cal from the gen1/2 last I’ve heard, so hopefully I can grow with this one and enjoy as having a HAQ in the stable is nice.
I loved the gen2 on nato and this one is no exception. I’ve broken-out a few old maratacs/toxics for this one, and even ordered a few more shiznits, even though the bracelet is great, too. Nice to have bit of fun again with straps. Last time I wore a bond style black/gray was back when Rolex and Tudor were “cheap”, so it’s sorta like a blast from the past in a way.

Re: X-33 Skywalker incoming
This is really cool. I’d buy one if they offered a thin 40mm version.
Re: X-33 Skywalker incoming
How do you like it compared to your Gen 2? I’m considering one or the other, but haven’t seen either in real life—and given my current location, not likely to. I’d likely be picking up one used and having someone bring it out to me.
