Out With The New
This is a follow-up to a previous post:
viewtopic.php?f=51&t=65425
I received the new Seamaster and didn't remove any plastic; something about it bothered me.
Over several days, I looked at it and put it around my wrist a number of times, ultimately decided to return it to Topper's.
Here is what I did not like (apologies to anyone who loves all of the following).
the new bracelet design had no "soul" and looked cheap in comparison to what it replaced
the way the bracelet hinges straight across at the lugs
the hollow triangle around the lume pip
and most importantly, the over-all look of the watch; the large markers; more tool-ish than I wanted.
By the way, the new wave dial is very sharp and a plus in my book.
Eric said that he planned to check the watch out at Jared's. I didn't realize Jared's was an Omega AD and headed over there to see the Omega line-up as well as some other watches (Tudor, Breitling, Tag, etc.)
I've never seen the PO 43.5 in person and love the new look (glossy dial/bezel); very similar to the SMP-C.
The bracelet has been modified at the lug ends, a different case back; the fit was perfect.
I decided this version of the PO was what I was looking for and got in touch with Rob.
He took the Seamaster back and I was able to get a used PO in exchange.
Pictures below from Topper's.
In addition to the strap/clasp, the purchase includes the bracelet.
I can't say enough about how helpful Rob has been throughout the process; a great guy!

Congrats on getting in right the second time.
Re: Out With The New
nice PO. Sorry to hear the SMP didn't work out. I will try to see one in person when back from vacation, or see if any stores near our hotel in FL.

I think I got 3 from him and always a great deal and simple dealings.

Re: Out With The New
I've purchased a couple of watches from Rob and had good experiences both times. Being local makes things a bit simpler but it seems long distance deals aren't an issue either. I've recommended him to some friends and they've been pleased too. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again.

By the way, here's some good news I got from Rob...
his wife had a baby two days ago.
And he still found time to help me out.

Dude - so jealous!
I like the SMPc (haven’t seen the new one) with the exception of skeleton hands (never understood those) and the lume, although great initially, is worthless about an hour in.
The 43 PO is HOT!!
Congrats Matt!!

I really am a huge fan of Omega's strap offerings on the PO. I actually prefer the look to the bracelet.

I saw it in person recently and I'm not a fan either.
Congrats on the PO, Matt.

Re: Out With The New
Saw the new SMPc for the first time about a week ago; it looked better in reality than in photographs, but that's mainly because from a few paces away, it doesn't look that different to the previous one; up close, the HEV doesn't look as pronounced as it does in photographs, and I like the slightly chunkier look. Glass back, though, don't get it and hate it enough to never even consider buying one. As far as the skeleton hands go, aesthetically, I quite like them, but in practical terms, with my eyesight, I can't tell what is what in the dark: the different lume colour isn't prominent enough and the end lume on the minute hand almost blends in as another hour marker. In comparison, the lume on my Seawolf is super easy to read.
Anyways, the PO looks great, and congrats on getting the right watch for you.
