Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
as i look for my next watch, im really liking the idea of a chrono with that Daytona kinda bezel. Ive been looking at the Tudor BB Chrono and this Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono......Damn this looks hot, even has that adjustable sliding omega clasp ive seen around here....Anyone ever own this or try it on? thoughts? It would scratch my Daytona itch for sure. I LOVE that textured dial.

I had the regular black dial version a couple years ago. It’s great, especially with the adjustable clasp.

I like the Tudor, but this Omega is stunning.
Re: Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
Yeah I really like the Tudor big time. This one may win out though. Not sure.

I’d take the Omega over the Tudor as well. There are way too many versions of the Speedmaster, but this is one of the good ones.
Re: Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
Definitely on my radar should I pop for a more moon-ish Speedy, currently own a '57 circa '97.
The metallic hands on the black dial version are the main draw for me.
McQueen Explorer checker minute indices are another.

I've been drooling over the orange one for a year but can't seem to find good pricing on LNIB
Re: Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
I've seen from 4900 to like 5700 on recon.

Re: Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
I really like the white one and the black/orange one. I checked them out in vegas a few months ago and they are indeed bad ass. I’ve wanted to get one since I saw them, but I can’t afford to sink anymore $ into this hobby.
Re: Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
These are very cool. I just think that a) they're not real Speedmasters and b) not sure they would make a good substitute for a Daytona C for me. I still want that white one, though.
Re: Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
I prefer these over the Tudor as well. These are super cool. But I agree with Rahul, speedmaster is probably not a substitute for a Daytona. I wear my Daytonas more than speedmasters, but I love both and they each have a place in the collection.
Re: Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
I had the black 9300 version for a time, that I actually think I bought from Zack. It's a great watch that wears smaller than its size would indicate. And these newer versions are supposed to be thinner (the 9300 was a thick watch). And this particular version looks great.
However, having also owned a Daytona with a SS bezel, I prefer the Daytona. Smaller, thinner, and more aesthetically pleasing to my eye. If they made one with a date, I'd still have one.
The Tudor is okay but, as has been noted by others in the past, the design isn't particularly cohesive.

Re: Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
Well im not one of those guys who care about "real" speedmasters versus a "Not real" one etc. I look for watches that i dig the style etc and thats about it, so that won't matter to me i guess. I love the look of the Daytona Ceramic white dial and to me, they are both very similar from a high level look and feel. I actually prefer the cleaner 2 subdial layout of the omega better. ALso, i love the idea of that speedy sliding clasp etc! The other thing is since getting my Speedy 57, ive realized how much i missed having a chrono with both a minute and hour hand on the same register at 3 o'clock...Its such a useful feature.

Re: Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
Lol I've bought many new over last few years. I'm ok with it as long as solid discounts etc. Safe bet bet. Most of them seem that what I paid bnib from AD we're competitive with what I see on recon etc. So I've done ok.

Unlike the Daytona, you can probably buy the Omega sometime in the next 3 years. Good for them. I would have had a new Dayton by now if Rolex wasn’t doing whatever it is they are doing.
The Omega is an interesting option. Good looking watch.

Re: Omega Speedmaster Racing Chrono, thoughts?
I've liked these since they were released, but at least from what I've seen it doesn't seem like they've caught on or are very popular. Not sure if that's true, or why if so.
There's one of this version FS on TRF right now too (it appears on leather), site won't open on my work browser though... https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=642392
