Ultraman!
Ultraman!
There is something about these Speedy Tuesdays for me...
Pretty dumb concept, but great execution. This one has really cool details. True stepped dial, DON bezel, and the racing elements all combine to make something unique and pretty damn compelling. It's a very sporty, but still somehow restrained execution of the Speedmaster. The "blob" on the running seconds subdial is not to everyone's taste, but I love it. If history holds, cartoon characters on the dial make for Speedmasters which hold their value very well. I can't wait for the Spiderman and Speed Racer STs.
Pretty cool that we on the DWC have 2-3 of these (not sure if the third has/will arrive, and I hear something about a box potentially being left unopened for awhile). Supposedly only 150-250 of these made it to the US based on what I read and what I was told by a boutique manager.
Here with the original ST. That one somehow seems more modern, even though the new one has more of the vintage details.
When I first got into watches about 10 years ago, I liked the Speedmaster, but didn't love it. Now I sometimes wonder if I should keep my three Speedmasters and sell the rest of my watches (except for the 16600, because that's not going anywhere).

Re: Ultraman!
Great pair, congrats. Yes the cartoon thing is kinda weird, however not without precedent as you point out - I still would love to have one of those original Snoopy Speedies!

Re: Ultraman!
That really is a nice edition. Was told here in Denver they couldn’t get one.
Re: Ultraman!
I’m with ya. It’s only my second Speedmaster (after the 3592.50), but what a great execution on a reissue of the dial and handset. The orange of the sweep hand and the markers, with the slight lume shade, is just enough. My favorite aspects are that stepped dial and applied logo. Really gives this watch a totally different feel from the modern Moonwatch. I’m glad the lume blob is easy to ignore (and only visible under UV), because this watch is great as a reissue without all that spaceman stuff.

^^^ Not the new Ultraman. Appears to be just a mod with an orange chrono hand.

Re: Ultraman!
Read a thread on Purist that a couple of Ultraman watches don’t have the usual Omega logo in the crystal.
I checked several IG posts, too and same thing - Some do and some don’t apparently - different crystal suppliers??

I have been off the grid on new releases, but this thing is drop dead gorgeous. I’m usually a purist, but daaaamn. The color works.

Re: Ultraman!
I think I see the symbol on Rahul's crystal. Not sure whether it's consistent across all of them. I do remember there was some inconsistency in the lume on the first Speedy Tuesday when they rolled it out.rockmastermike wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 10:54 amRead a thread on Purist that a couple of Ultraman watches don’t have the usual Omega logo in the crystal.
