New SMP real-world photos

Post by hoppyjr » Thu Sep 13, 2018 11:21 am

These are starting to land. Photos taken from WUS posts.

I’ve never been a skeleton hands fan, but I kinda want one. Black dial please.

i really wish they'd do one of these (or the previous gen ceramic bezel models) as a no date.
the hands are much better on the wrist than in pics btw...

These are growing on me. Even the sorta weird looking grey/silver dialed one. Cool that the prices are pretty reasonable from what I recall, and from what I've seen these actually started showing up before they were promised... on both counts a refreshing change from the shitty mess it has become trying to buy a new SS Rolex...

Still not really feeling it. I've never had a problem with the skeleton hands, but I don't like the way they've done the wave dial in this version (the old, pre-ceramic wave dial was a better look). I'm not overly fond of the changes to the HEV. I do like the newer, less pointed crown guards and what appears to be a larger crown.

I also wish Omega would return to the Speedy style bracelet for this watch. I appreciate that the SMP bracelet is unique to the model, but it's starting to feel a little dated, even with the newer, flatter links.

^ my guess is we will see a modern 2254 variant in a year or two. Same dial, but 2254 style hands and markers, Speedy style bracelet.

agreed on the bracelet, until i wore the ceramic for a while on the bond bracelet with adjustable clasp.
most comfortable bracelet/clasp combo i've ever used, and i thought the 300 master coaxial was tops, until i tried this combo.

That's an odd shaped crown at 10 o'clock.

I've worn the Bond bracelet (not the newer version with the adjustable clasp), and I agree that it's very comfortable. I just think it looks kind of dated at this point.

I want to like it... never warmed to these bracelets. I have figured out that the fact that it doesn’t taper bugs me the most.

Taper would be an improvement.

Don’t like it at all, the waves, the tapered HEV and something I had t noticed until now, the change in the bracelet to flat links. It looks all wrong to me on a Bond bracelet.

Agree with you on the bracelet - it's flatter literally and by way of impression. if I get one of these it's on rubber as a sport(ier) piece.

Edit: I just realized what the new bracelet reminds me of - the bracelets I've seen on cheap SMP replicas... I admit I haven't seen one in person but that's been my initial impression.
