New arrival...Omega Seamaster
I have finally joined the Omega club. After debating and looking, trying to decide on a "key piece", since the beginning of the year, my journey ends here.
I had wanted to add a significant brand name to my collection. I don't mean that in a conseted way, y'all know what I mean. It was time to step up. I had on my shortlist a sub no date, IWC Ingeniuer and Omega Aqua Terra. I had tried on all except the IWC and whilst I loved the sub, the Omega was doing it for me. I had pretty much made my mind up on the AT 15k gauss when a customer on mine was wearing his SMP blue dial and it really caught my eye. I tried one on and that was pretty much it. I still wanted the AT but the more I studied It, the more I noticed things I wasn't 100% liking; for example the date aperture. And it didn't quite sit as nice on the wrist. I knew I wanted a classic piece from that brand but something a little different than the sub (sorry). Something that was instantly recognisable from that brand. I really wanted to try the IWC, more to rule it out so i went to London with a buddy today. No luck on the IWC anywhere. The shop told me the Genta design version is no longer being made and the new variant is frankly horrible. I was a bit disappointed but after spending a good time at the Omega shop, I plumped for the SMP ceramic and I couldn't be happier. It's looks great, has fantastic specs for the price point and there is nothing I don't like about it. I feel like I have a classic piece that can be worn anywhere. This is my second watch this year, after the Oris but I feel like I am "there" now with my collection. Sorry for the crappy pics but really wanted to share my search and results.

I'm going through the same process and I'm probably gonna land right where you did. The Omega Seamaster Pro just hits the right buttons. My last remaining option is the Rolex Explorer I and it's in a distant second.

Agree – an unsung hero in the modern Omega line. Love how it photographs too – nobody does that inky black dial like Omega.
