8800 39.5mm PO
8800 39.5mm PO
I was intrigued when the smaller size version of the 8800 PO was introduced last year. WUS user rts9364 posted some very interesting photo comparisons for those that may have written this version of the watch off as too small. Dimensions almost match the 16600 Seadweller exactly, with the PO being a hair thinner. It also looks good next to the Speedy Pro, which I've decided is the perfect sized watch for me.

Re: 8800 39.5mm PO
The best part of this watch, for me at least, is the articulating center link in the end link. There's something really off about the fixed center link design on the PO bracelet.
Do you have specs on the dial size? It looks smaller than the 16600, and that's already a pretty small dial.

Re: 8800 39.5mm PO
Not very scientific, but if I draw horizontal lines, it appears that both the PO bezel and dial is larger than the 16600. Could be perspective of the photo though.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2017 8:36 amThe best part of this watch, for me at least, is the articulating center link in the end link. Also useful information: The 42mm version of the 8500 PO was 15.7mm thick. This 8800 version is 14.2. Matching to the 2500 version. I agree with Jacob on the end links.

Re: 8800 39.5mm PO
If the dial is slightly larger than the SD, this could be a great watch. One issue though - I'm seeing it's a 19mm lug spacing with absolutely sucks ass. If this watch is intended for smaller wristed people, where exactly are we supposed to find a short rubber strap in 19mm?dnslater wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2017 8:49 amNot very scientific, but if I draw horizontal lines, it appears that both the PO bezel and dial is larger than the 16600. I really want one of these, love the blue version and the size is just perfect.
The 19mm lug width sucks, but I prefer wearing the PO on bracelet.

Maybe too small for me but would've at least considered it in 20mm. I'm done dealing with weird widths, not worth it for me no matter the watch.

Re: 8800 39.5mm PO
I've never once worn my PO2500 on bracelet due to the funky end links. I have an EricF4 level question though - is there a way to split the PO2500 bracelet without driving out a link pin? I've looked and looked, and haven't seen anywhere that you can push a spring bar to separate.

The 2500 end links can be removed the same way as the sizing links are. I don't understand the question...

My PO (and its bracelet) is with Nesbits right now, but this pic shows that you can. I don't have a problem with the end links though.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2017 9:26 amI've never once worn my PO2500 on bracelet due to the funky end links. Do you know how a pre-ceramic Rolex has the micro adjust in clasp, which allows you to split the bracelet into two parts by pushing the spring bar and separating the clasp? Does the PO bracelet have anything like that, or can it only be separated into two parts by driving out a link pin?

Surprisingly hard to find a picture of what I'm talking about, but these guys mention it:
http://www.hirschstraps.com/pages/brace ... ging-guide
The easy way and the hard way to open a bracelet:
On an old PO, the hard way is pushing out a pin from a link. Is there any other way to do it?

No. I know what you're asking now and the PO bracelet doesn't have a spring bar or easy disconnect like the Rolex bracelet does.

Re: 8800 39.5mm PO
Terrible design. I can understand the lack of a micro adjust based on the clasp design, but making all the pivot points non-removable was just dumb. I bet it saved swatch 3 cents on each unit.

I believe the newer Omega adjustable clasp does have the spring bar, but I'll need to check it later.JP Chestnut wrote:Terrible design. I really like this one. Need to go try a 43.5mm, will probably be perfect for me

Re: 8800 39.5mm PO
Can you still easily get the adjustable clasps? I'd like to source one and the necessary screw on links to fit it to the old style bracelet. The only bad thing about small town living is not being close to decent shopping.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2017 10:28 amI believe the newer Omega adjustable clasp does have the spring bar, but I'll need to check it later.JP Chestnut wrote:Terrible design. Re: 8800 39.5mm PO
My new Speedy Pro clasp has two micro-adjustments and the bracelet can disconnect via a spring bar on one side.

As per the manager of the Omega Boutique from where I got mine, any boutique can order the parts. I listed the necessary parts in my thread.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2017 10:35 amCan you still easily get the adjustable clasps? Do you know if they allow shipping to your home? Getting to the boutique is the issue.Joeprez wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2017 10:45 amAs per the manager of the Omega Boutique from where I got mine, any boutique can order the parts. Re: 8800 39.5mm PO
I have the 42mm 8500 planet ocean. I can't imagine many would want a modernly styled sporty diver being any smaller than the 42mm. The bezel width is 40mm. It is basically the exact size of my speedmaster.
I'd suggest trying the 39.5 before you buy. I bet it will wear really small.

Plenty would like a moderately sized sport diver that isn't 15.5mm tall for no reason.
