New Speedy Pro Presentation Box

Post by dnslater » Thu Jan 12, 2017 4:22 pm

I know many members have Speedies but I wanted to post a few photos of the presentation box the current Speedy Pro comes with.... starting a year or two back. The watch was unchanged other than a different serial number and screw link bracelet.

This black box was packaged in several much larger boxes for shipping. Outer box was 2' wide.

Inner box is a softly padded beauty with canvas shell and astronaut style straps:

Inside this box is the watch, along with a stainless paperweight, two straps (Velcro space strap and Omega NATO), a nice strap tool, three sets of spring bars and a loope. Behind was the standard warranty cards and instruction box

Not much needs to be said about the watch.

Under the case was hidden a book detailing the moon missions.

The loupe has a tachymeter scale

From one of the worst to one of the best boxes. I prefer the crappy old one at a lesser cost though.

Yes, you cannot wear the box. I didn't know it came this way when I ordered. I found a gray market at a great price new. Have had very few actual new watches. Seems a little overdone, but I suppose it will help value if I sell some day.

For me it's about the space. My wife already gets pissed at our safe being full of watch boxes. I doubt this thing would even fit inside. It's a REALLY bad ass box though.

It seems like they could fit a small pistol in there.

Congrats Nick.

What are these going for grey market? I used to hate Speedys, but I am afraid I might have the bug.

IDK...just never understood the tachy bezel and thought the mission connection is a bit over done. I recently picked up a triple date and now I guess I get it

The tach feature was for a driver. Time to distance. It incidentally factored significantly in one Apollo mission.

I hate speedys on my own wrist. On everyone else they look amazing. Just didn't do it for me.

Like $3275 on Joma with code. Found used ones for $2600-$2900 with questionable service history and given the service cost for a chrono it made sense to me to give gray market a try. There are several used versions on WUS for far more.

I understand the reasoning behind it, but I am too stupid to use it.

That's pretty reasonable. Your watch looks great.

I don't care for my Speedy on my wrist, when it's on the bracelet. there's something about Omega's end links that look weird on a small wrist. I love it on a strap however. Any speedy hater should check it out on leather.

This was probably my issue with it.

Hard to beat the LLD box for sheer size. You could park a small SUV in there.

Never on a bracelet. May have come later in its history anyway.

I recognize that pic ;)
It's not only big but heavy as well. Sucks for keeping shipping costs low.

Cool box but all I really want is the medallion inside.
