The new 43.5mm POs are growing on me

Post by sierra11b » Sat Sep 03, 2016 10:32 am

Maybe it's the fact I'm an SF Giants fan but the new PO with the orange on black 15minute countdown is growing on me in a fun sorta way. The blue one doesn't look half bad either.

I'm I alone?

It's just you. That model looks like a cheap mall watch.

Even if the looks are OK, which they aren't, the shitty plastic hybrid construction sucks balls.

As a lifelong Dodger fan, you're alone even if only because you like the Giants.

Man tough crowd.

Problem is it appeals to me in the same way the GP hawk does and
know it would be doomed to flippage someday.

GP Hawk is way cooler. You should be banned for using that as a comparison to Omega's piece of shit ;-)
The only commonality they share is both are stupidly over-priced.

I wonder how long it will take for rubberized markers on the bezel to start shining and peeling

And the ceramic bezel on the 8500 will look perfect for years.

I really think the first generation ceramic PO's are the best looking. The dimensions don't work for me, but it looks like a vastly more expensive watch than the 2500 version.

I agree. Everyone fawns all over the 2500s but they do nothing for me compared to the 8500.

I think they're both beautiful in their own way, but I prefer the black bezel, open 6 and 9, painted numerals and the thickness of the 2500

totally agree! It's a matter of personal preference but I also think the 2500 is the best choice.

I'd have to see one in the flesh - I was might impressed with the quality of my PO 8500. Bezel action was amazing and the details just looked quality.

This. And mainly the thinner case. 2500 with ceramic bezel would be a mic dropper

Or the original liquid metal LE with the 2500d. I think that LE is probably the best of the bunch, even with the 2500c, and the market seems to agree - it still sells for around twice the regular 2500d version and the later 8500 price. I expect this new one to be a total flop, with prices eventually dropping below the first generation 8500.

Yep, liquid metal LE is the coolest PO. I do like the the 8500, especially the dial when compared to the 2500 (raised "Omega" and orange "Seamaster"). However, having the ability to change bezels makes the 2500 a winner for me. I wear mine mostly on bracelet so the thickness of the 8500 doesn't bother me that much.

+1 to the LMLE as the pinnacle of the Planet Ocean. I'll take my 2500D and shake my head disapprovingly at the new PO design direction.
