x33 bracelet took a crap.

Post by sierra11b » Sat Aug 13, 2016 2:58 pm

Can't take pics right now as I'm away on work and don't want to attempt fiddling with trying to upload a pic, but the first link as it meets the endlink failed. Luckily I caught it in mid flight before crashing on the pavement.

I recall this happening to someone's gen1 on WUS.

This might get expensive :banghead:

If it's just the pin & collar it's not a big deal. If the link busted then you're hosed.

My brother experienced this with a SMP. As a precaution I have all the pins swapped out during service.

Parts costs are one of the nice things about omega. Even if you had to buy a whole new bracelet, it would probably be only 50% of the cost of a Rolex clasp - used.

Looks busted. One of the two bars has sheered off and is stuck inside the other loose piece

Looks like this will go on NATO until due for battery service then bite the bullet on a fresh gen2 service... Bezel is loose and could use some attention, too. Love this one too much!

Good to know, especially with the recent Otto Frei news. As I recall they sold the bracelet for ~ $800

^ Based on this, I'd suggest you contact the Omega Service Center. I've had great luck with the Seattle location and I'm sure if you call them and get an email address you'd be able to send them these photos and they'll tell you if they can repair it. If not, I'm sure it works great on NATO's.

Ask for Eric or Mac in the service center. (206) 624-4000

Thank you, Ed

I'll reach out before my battery is due if the price is right. Would be nice to get the bezel done too for a cherry piece

Hope you can get settled quickly. I always forget how awesome these titanium watches are.

Finally called the Omega service center. Mac had left for the day so I'll try Monday hoping he can pull through or work some magic.

BUT

The kind woman quoted me $1500!

I had to confirm it was for the Gen2 and not the Skywalker after I wiped the beer that flew out of my mouth off the phone. That's too pricey for the Skywalker even... If true, that's highway robbery considering that's almost what I paid for the watch and Otto Frei had them for half that price.

Hmmm... new bracelet or used two liner pelagos. :crybaby:

That shouldn't require a whole new bracelet.

And that's why Omega won't supply Otto Frei with parts any longer.

I totally get it but that doesn't mean I'll play ball or be loyal to omega at those prices... I understand they can leave me but it doesn't make it right if true.

Hopefully Mac can follow through.

Did you leave evidence?

I'd think a guy with your skill set could control his shots better.

That looks like it can be repaired. The piece that broke off can be drilled out. Then, replace all of the pins and press it back together.

It's a shame Jonathan Koch is no longer with us. He was great with this sort of thing.

Or the phone, tv remote, lamp switch, or pretty much anything in a paid room. You worry about the cover imagine what the remote has been exposed to and I doubt there's anyone wiping that daily.

Sorry about the watch hope you get a reasonably priced resolution or a NATO.
