Message on Ofrei - no more parts from Omega
Maybe it's old news, and maybe this will change due to the latests Swatch request to start selling movements again to third parties, but I bought some parts for my PO this week and found this on the main page of Ofrei's website:
So guys, if you need bracelet parts, bezels, hands or any other Omega part for your Speedy, Seamaster or PO, now it's the time.

I recall hearing this a while back, but it still sucks.
I'm content with my one Omega, but some spring bars might be nice to grab.

I got spring bars (19mm and 20mm, all work for the Speedy and the PO) and a new black bezel (expensive, but I ain't selling my PO). Was going to buy a set of hands, but they don't have on stock the seconds hands, which is the one I wanted the most (the orange on mine is starting to fade). In any case, I read the seconds hand can be replaced by Omega in a routine service.
I also bought the parts to install the adjustable clasp on my 2500 PO bracelet, but that was done via an Omega Boutique.

I've had such good luck with Omega service centers, I'm comfortable using them for future repairs.

Ofrei sucks, so I'm having a hard time caring about the loss. They fucked up all five of my orders and dragged their feet to make it right.

I had the same problem so I had to stop trying to give them my business. Their lack of carrying when they screw up makes it worse!JP Chestnut wrote:Ofrei sucks, so I'm having a hard time caring about the loss. They fucked up all five of my orders and dragged their feet to make it right.

That really sucks guys... this is only the second time I've bought from them, unfortunately I was not able to source the bezel from anyone else.

Looked for a 2254.50 bezel recently and they wanted over $400. LolZ

Is it cheaper to do the planet ocean adjustable clasp with ofrei or an omega boutique ?

It's about $150 at the boutique, so I would mess with Ofrei.BBK357 wrote:Is it cheaper to do the planet ocean adjustable clasp with ofrei or an omega boutique ?

I've never seen something cheaper from Ofrei than it would be from a friendly dealer.BBK357 wrote:Is it cheaper to do the planet ocean adjustable clasp with ofrei or an omega boutique ?

I did not find the necessary parts with Ofrei, so I went with a boutique.

Message on Ofrei - no more parts from Omega
Does this move by Omega/Swatch Group harken back 20 years ago when Rolex would yank an AD's ability to sell Rolex if they did anything more than touch it to send it to Rolex Service Center? It sucked with Rolex then and the same with Omega now. Fortunately, there are now many great resources for Rolex service. I have a guy who restored my Omega Speedy MK II to perfection and sourced the parts himself. He does a better job than Omega service ever could. I'll let ya'll decide from pics. I've seen MK II tonneau cases get ground down to within a millimeter of breaching the hood over the lugs by Omega service. I'm sure there are many positive stories as well, but his work is perfect and the case is like new after 46 years. Would be sad if he and other Omega experts on guys and other forums can't source parts.

And just for the record, I've always received excellent service from Otto Frei.

Holy crap, Franco. That is perfection considering how old the watch is.
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.

I ordered a buckle for a 2500 PO rubber strap from ofrei with no issues except the high price

I believe in charging the fucking hell out of someone for a great service or product. I also believe that outstanding impeccable customer service should be individually tailored for every single person/company that pays the premium...

If things change, OF might have burned it's bridges with that message; seems bordeline slanderous. They also need a lesson in basic grammar and use of capital letters.

Swatch group here in Toronto sells parts direct to the public. And the prices didn't seem bad at all. I got a couple 18mm buckles and for $20 each and they were very helpful and professional. Call your area's swatch group and see if you can buy from them.
