Waiting with fingers crossed
I received an Omega Hour Vision yesterday.
The post, with pictures, is here:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5253&start=0
I bought it on eBay, from a seller without a lot of sales.
I know that is taboo, but in reading the eBay protection statements, figured I was covered.
There were several contacts between me and the seller prior to the sale and I decided to purchase.
Yesterday, I hit the first uh-oh.
The seller said the watch was purchased from Prestige Time for him as a gift from his grandmother.
Prestige time is unable to find any record of an Hour vision with the same serial number.
Then the second uh-oh.
He gave me his grandmother's name to give to Prestige Time as the purchaser.
Prestige Time has no record of her as a purchaser.
Uh-oh number three.
His grandmother passed away about 5 months ago and they can not find any paperwork.
I just sent the serial number to Omega to see if they can verify the watch as genuine.
I also have been waiting for a response from the seller.
So far, he has been responding to all inquiries.
My most recent is if maybe the watch was purchased at another on line seller.
Meanwhile, a bit of praying.
I will probably wait until I hear from Omega or back from the seller before getting in touch with eBay.
This sucks.

For what it's worth...
I think the watch is a genuine Omega and not a replica.
Timekeeping seems dead on (like it is supposed to be for an Hour Vision).
However, the "unknown origin" does not sit well.

I know there's a lot of fakes out there, but I can't see someone going to the trouble to fake an Hour Vision. PO, yes. But those are becoming quite ubiquitous. Granted, if someone could make a buck off a fake, then it might be worth the trouble. But from your pics, that one looks legit.
I'd wait to hear from Omega. and if ebay doesn't resolve it, you've always got "other means."

Re: Waiting with fingers crossed
Good luck, Matt. Hope it all works out. Might be worthwhile to do a google search on the serial since a lot of fakes will not go through the trouble of creating unique serials.

From the pics you posted I highly highly highly doubt it's fake, so I wouldn't worry about that issue. I understand your frustration about its origin though, since you don't want something that "fell off the back of a truck".

Re: Waiting with fingers crossed
Interesting-but like others stated it totally looks legit and its keeping killer time so I wouldn't be too worried. Sounds like you're on top of it though and keep us posted.

Good luck mate - fingers crossed it's all good.... then you can get back to enjoying your cool new toy
Re: Waiting with fingers crossed
Matt,
I'll echo what others have said: someone would really have had to gone to a whole lot of effort to get a perfect fake, based on the pics that you posted. Not that they don't, but in this instance, the effort would have been probably too substantial for the outcome. For what it is worth I really think that this is the real McCoy, mate. Let us know, though. The seller can always be consequenced ...

Re: Waiting with fingers crossed
Just got this response from Omega:
Thank you for your inquiry.
A watch cannot be authenticated for moving parts via email.
The information I can provide is that the serial number references to model 43130412102001 originally sold in 2007.
Thank you for contacting Omega.
I just wanted to get something back like that and I am relieved to have this resolved.

In the past Omega was able to confirm for me which AD originally sold the Speedy Pro I owned (Singapore AD actually which was surprising).
