Anyone own a moonphase speedy?

Made a trade offer for a 3689.30.31 currently up for grabs and couldn't settle on a deal. I may have regretted losing the Milgauss but it's a pretty cool and very rare Speedmaster. Plus I've always wanted a display back speedy and have never owned an 18kt watch. Seemed like a win win win.

Fast forward to today an I'm wondering if the 3576.50 can co-exist with the 3570.50? Too redundant? Milgauss would have to go but it should free-up a little cash which is always nice.

Would be nice to find a ST345.0809 but not likely to happen anytime soon.

The new 9904 moonphase is a lovely watch but I can't get past the crescent moon date indicator, the overall size, and no bracelet.

I'll bet dollars to a donut the reference or the 1866 be discontinued thanks to the 9904 movement, which will be a shame considering its size compared to the speedy pro case.

Makes me want a 1866 even more now... Something about a moon watch with moon phase is appealing considering that's my favorite watch in terms of wearability. You rarely see the complication in any other tool-style watches. In fact, I can't think of any....

Could they co-exist, sure...too redundant for me but some folks have the same watch each with a different strap..

Setting a moonphase is a pain, so you need to keep it wound, even when not wearing it, just to mind the moonphase. Similar to a manual wind non-quickset date, which is also a poor combination.

I have 1, but chose the 3576 over the 3750 mainly due to the date function. I also like the fact that it's a sapphire sandwich. I do admit I never use the moonphase function, but it is nice to look at! As far as keeping the movement wound like Matt mentioned, the power reserve is long enough so you can wind it every 3 days or so when it's sitting in the bullpen.

So say you let the PR die. Can you simply wind it and keep advancing the minute and hour hand (as tedious as it may seem) until the date and phase is correct?

i remember doing it with my 1675 and didn't mind too much. I find myself doing it with my 6139 now as to not wear any parts on the crown-push quickset. It's kinda like the extreme to the anti-manual wind bunch. The difference is this takes a whole 3 minutes from your day instead of the seconds it takes to wind a watch.

I find myself looking at this and other moon phases like the jlc master calendar. Unfortunately, I remember that being a tad cumbersome, the modern version doesn't seem to have a bracelet option, and the ultra thin only comes in WG. Plus I'd rather not have a dressier watch this time around.

That looks incredible.

I see what your saying Wu.

But for someone like me it doesn't matter- i only have a couple- 3 main watches and I tend to keep them wound. Heck, my sub has been running since I got it back from service in November, and my 103 has never stopped either.

I do like waking up in the morning and winding my speedy. In fact I just did it.

Now I got a none quick set date Tudor snowflake that I move the hands to the twelve and backwards to the eight and back to the twelve to set the date also on the vintage Glycine airman doing that never bothers me can you do that on this cuts the time down setting the date ?

It's a 7021/0 probably has a factory service dial and hands so it looks newer than it is. Used a modified ETA 2461 (25 jewels) movement the 7021/0 came out in 1968 not sure what year they stopped using that movement .. Had Rolex service center SF service it so every thing legit.
