Is Amazon an AD for Omega watches?

Post by mattcantwin » Sat May 16, 2015 6:00 pm

I have been looking around for a new XL 8500 PO on bracelet at a "good" price.

Found one for sale on Amazon; $4090 including shipping.

Would it be covered under the Omega warranty?

This has probably been asked and answered here, but I couldn't find the answer.

I don't believe they are an Omega AD and that means you won't have a warranty from Omega.

Relatively certain that Amazon is considered grey market, so no original warranty.

I'm pretty certain Amazon is grey market.

That said, at least Amazon has a fairly good return policy if you get it and find something amiss.

I don't see any cards pictured for the watch.

I got a helpful contact from someone here, DWC is a great place.

However, I ordered one from Alfred (FNFZ4).

BNIB, all boxes and papers and Omega warranty.

It should arrive in about 3 weeks or so.

In a word, No.

At the time of my purchase, warranty repairs were sent to any number of 3rd party watchmakers across the USA (shipping paid by Amazon) depending on the brand. Bought my PO Chrono there and had a problem. It took 2 tries with their poor repairs. Eventually, I popped for Omega full service to finally get it right for ~$600 a year or so later.

As others stated they are not and they provide warranty through a third party, but to add to it if you buy one from them that is an "Amazon warehouse" deal such as one someone returned or the box is damaged they carry zero warranty. It does not state this, it is silent on the issue but I confirmed they do not. You can return with the stated return period but no 2 year warranty etc.
