I like it, but the white seconds hand is an odd choice, and I just can't warm to PCL's on a dive watch. I agree with Ed on the price - my guess is these are only going to appeal to a limited group of people. The prices will go down significantly in the pre-owned market over time.

Badass... I would keep my PO and get the blue 300.
But I agree that the second hand looks kind of goofy. Was it like that in the original 300?

Maybe, but I honestly think if you put this watch next to a PO or SMP, all else being equal, the "man on the street" is going to pick the PO or SMP almost every time.

White hand is historically accurate.

Andrew's pics are better. Sandwich dial really? I'd hit the black one if it's 2500$ and 43-44mm

I don't think it's a sandwich in the sense of a Panerai, but I could be wrong. It looks more like recessed lume plots, which someone on WUS was helpful enough to show was a feature on the original.

^^^Also, my guess is that when the original watch was released, the lume on the hour and minute hands would have been white (or whiter), not patina'd (look at the non-lumed text and markers on the dial). Over time, as the lume grew darker, the white seconds hand stood out more. With this new release, Omega is making it stand out more from the get go.

Looks good but not compelling at all to me.
So basically the same way I felt at announcement.
If I stumble across one, so be it, but I'm not going to be searching one out.

The current PO8500 is around the same price. That's how much in-house Omega watches cost these days. This one will settle to $4,250 or less in short order, and be a great value there.

I'd love to see it on a custom shark strap like I have on my PO.

I personally don't see the PO as a 6k watch either. But what do I know.

If it does drop down that low I think it is great option.

The PO8500 is a great watch for around $5k new, but it is overpriced at $6200. If they add an adjustable clasp and the new anti-magnetic movement, then I think $6k is reasonable.
I think this SM300 would also be ok at $5k new, but it seems like it's overpriced at new MSRP.
I still wish for a PO2500 styled piece, with 2500"d" motor and NO date.

Omega in general, IMHO, has pushed up against the ceiling on their prices. I cannot, in my mind, justify a $6K watch. I know a lot of you have much more sunk into pieces, but that's my conservative old guy rearing, I guess.
Now....when this is used......I'm on it like white on rice.

I agree with you. $8,000 subs and $6,000 omegas are not for me.

So I just saw this, in standard SS, two tone, and Ti. The fake lume didn't look terrible and neither did the white second hand. The lugs are definitely wider than 20mm and the end link fit is typical Omega (not tight). Not only are the lugs long, but the end links stick out past the tips of the lugs. I'd say that the distance from one tip of the inner portion of the end link to the other is similar to a Rolex DSSD. It overhung on my wrist where a 42mm PO8500 or Speedmaster Pro does not. In fact, it wore larger than th BP bathyscaphe. The proportions were surprisingly off. The clasp was nice.

Oh, yes....you will be mine someday
Had a chance to see the steel 300 live and in person today. I thought it was extremely week done. Liked everything about it. Looked fantastic and wore very well on the bracelet. I loved the dial and the way the lume sits low in the dial, just like my old Railmaster used to do. If it wasn't for an incredibly annoying salesperson I would have stayed to take a few pics. But it gets two thumbs up from me.
Mike, you're going to love it.
