Copying an original exactly kills some of the magic around the original. :( Omega has done this to both of these.

Does that vintage dive watch have a pancake dial? I can't figure out if Omega did it for historical reasons or as a "while we're at it".

Omega wants a piece of the vintage pie.

The more I look at the re-release, the more I want an original....

Yeah, Omega is proving to have no qualms at all about homaging their own classics. Rolex would never do this (even their Tudor Heritage collection watches are far from straight homages).

BTW, those two watches are amazing.

I'm just the opposite. The new is the best of both worlds to me.

I agree - as much as I love vintage charm, I'd rather be a poseur with vintage feel in a modern wrapper.

SM 300, NIB/warranty, with Daniels escapement? Are you kidding? You know how folks here go all ape for Singer Porsches, Icon land cruisers, eagle e-types and that bespoke Aston/Jag mashup? Color me that: F*ck romantics...

I'm in agreement with Zab-o-dean and Michael on the modern side. Like Excellence Magazine always says, "Buy the latest Porsche you can afford." Style is skin deep.

Well the price Omega selling the remakes for can't you get the originals cheaper I rather have the original and for all you saying you want the remakes how many of you dive so really you don't have to have a watch that you fear getting near water.
