question about seamaster bracelet half link installation

Post by jtbenson » Thu Feb 27, 2014 10:37 am

So, I want to swap a full link for a half link on my seamaster pro bracelet, model 930 (which has no adjustment in the clasp :cussing: ). I've removed one full link already, so I am familiar with the pin/sleeve removal and reinstallation process.
My question is: since I'm down to only one removable link on both sides of the clasp is it OK to remove the pin in the clasp end link to install the half link in place of one of the remaining removable full links? Asked another way, is that pin meant to be removed and reinstalled the same way as the pins in the removable links themselves? OK, I am looking at this and understand the issue and even that barely made sense to me.
A pic is worth 1000 words as they say. Is the pin circled in red meant to be removable? Or is this as small as the bracelet goes?

I don't see why not, if it uses a different style pin system I would make sure it still goes in this hole.

Should be no problem, but I love it on the NATO....

Is this the Non-AC that was being sold on DWC a while back? If so, that was a nice pick up.

kelly/hops, you guys are not helping. :bird:
every watch i own is currently on nato and i want to wear something on its bracelet. that said, if it can't go any smaller than it is currently, it's going on a red/black nato, & done.

That for sale post has sent me on a hunt for my own LNIB/NOS/Mint Non-AC.

It'll be ok. Did that on an SMP Chrono I used to have. Just follow same direction as arrow when pushing it out

I have a lot of experience with sizing SMP bracelets, and , Yes, you can do that, without any problem....

Thanks all.
Follow up question: will the clasp center better with the half link on the 12 or 6 side?

Generally, you want a smaller number of links on the #6 side when you have a small wrist. What size is your wrist anyways?

Thanks Jacob & Brice, 1/2 link installed on 6 side and fit is much better.
Jacob, my wrists are 6.25 to 6.5 but my forearms aren't any bigger so I have to wear my watches slightly snug to prevent the nfl bicep sweatband position.
thanks again everyone for the confirmation to remove those pins.
Kelly/Hops, you two should avert your eyes...

I feel your pain. I can't wear the old style Rolex bracelets without removing a permanent link since the clasp sits on the side of my wrist otherwise. My experience with Omega has been much better - no problem getting my Speedy Pro bracelet centered on my wrist. That's a really nice looking watch. I want one.
