Blast from the past. I remember stumbling across the Exp Exchange site years ago and reading up on the Speedmaster moon. Great share.

Great article on a special wAtch.

Wearing mine today and may switch to the Alaska project for the evening.

I bought a cheap watch from a crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says now
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong

Nifty! A bit of hyperbole here and there, but I really enjoyed the NASA history at the end of the article. The Speedy Pro is a great watch. Terrific chronograph, important connection to both American history and space exploration, and aesthetically pleasing.

It's also one of the "most pure" designs available - Omega has produced a number of cringe-worthy LE's, but they managed to keep the classic Speedmaster Pro model relatively unmolested through the years.

That's John's Land Rover shop. Cool guy and very passionate about the Speedy Pro. He also wears a 16710.

Also relatively inexpensive, particularly when you compare them to other iconic chronographs like a Navitimer or a Daytona. Truly a lot of watch for the money.

That's totally true. $4500 (that's what it was last time I looked) for a brand new Speedmaster (before discount) is one of the best deals you can find for a big name watch. The fairly bad resale value makes them an even bigger bargain second hand as well. I avoided picking up a Speedmaster for many years because I wrongly thought the quality would be sub-par due to the price. I was totally wrong - it's a seriously nice watch.

Chrono purity! Someday I will have to man up for one. Maybe a semi-vintage or that Dark Side of the Moon thing.

Thanks for the excellent link. Everything that needs to be said, has been said in these three posts. Great watch. Love mine and just bought James' Speedy for my son (James will regret it so I had to move fast...).
