Good Article on Sinn (U1 &U2) Technology

Post by rockmastermike » Fri Dec 17, 2010 6:35 pm

found this cruising around on the internets. Just a stunning amount of cool tech built into these. My inner geek gets a woody reading stuff like this.
Viton, Argon, Non-Compressable Oil, Vickers, Pre-Tense Crystals, Extreme Temps, Anti-Magnetic, Tegiment, Sub Steel

+1.

I loved the look of my UX but the oil needing to be changed and the second hand bounce kind of got to me. So the U2 has always been intriguing to me. Does anybody know if the Teflon oil solved the discoloration problem on the hands and dial of the UX?.

These watches wear great on bracelet or Sinn rubber.

UX looks great, and the oil is part of the appeal to me. The newer oil did, as far as I've read, completely solve the discoloration problem of the hands, and I believe most models after 2007 (?) are updated. If not, I believe Sinn will change the oil for free.

I like the UX a lot. It's great looking. I love the idea of a high-spec quartz movement in a grab-and-go piece. I've toyed with the idea of trading my U1 for one, though I am a mechanical guy, and frankly the vids I've seen of the second hand bounce have been a turn off. And as Jay said, I don't like the idea of having to send a watch to Germany for a simple battery change. Still tempted though.
