Rewarding myself with U1

Quit chewing tobacco for good 129 days ago so I'm well over the hump.

Did the math and I've spent about $45K in my can-a-day habit of Copenhagen which adjusted for the increase of a can for the last 23yrs. What started as a $900/yr habit is now a $3500/yr habit.

Started at 16yo and the Army sure didn't help. I miss it but the chickens were coming home to roost on my health... I had some blood sugar swings/anxiety attacks which almost prompted me to call 911. The blood sugar spikes in the first 30days were insane. I was ingesting the lethal limit of nicotine every day or x1.25 if traveling.

It will be my 3rd U1 but the last time I owned one was a 2824 version about 10 years ago. I found a used one from April 2020 on WUS and asked if he would sell without the bracelet as it was a little too beat for my liking and considering I'm easy on watches. He agreed so I bought a bracelet a la carte from Sinn directly. So the price overall was $1720 shipped.

Looking forward to the incoming this weekend.

Just teasing - good on you for quitting that habit. I never actually added up the annual costs of my bad habits - probably better for my mental health if I don't.

I remember trying dip in high school. All my friends and baseball guys did it. I remember pinching and shoveling that moist minty substance in my mouth, only to have it all break apart on my tongue and get in my teeth....
Cigarettes were way easier.

I smoked my last cigarette when I was 21, the night I got jumped by a group of guys that resulted in me having part of my jaw lower jaw now being made of titanium. I decided something good had to come of the situation.

Just to satisfy the craving.

The dopamine receptors in my brain have to be shot with the amount I consumed. I remember trying to quit years ago and fell of the wagon after three weeks. The experience was enjoyable but not euphoric and didn’t cause a buzz.

Like I said, my body was so used to nicotine I was at or above the lethal daily rate depending on the daily consumption. Cigarette smoke doesn’t allow ample absorption whereas chew does.

It is. I don’t think it will fully disappear. I still have urges and have actually tested myself at day 60 and 90 with outdoors and drinking scenarios with friends. It was risky, and something I do not recommend, but it made me stronger once I overcame those instances.

Congrat's on breaking the habit. I haven't had a cig in 7 or 8 years, and hadn't had a can in 3 years. I still get craving's for both especially under certain circumstances.

I quit smoking 2 years ago on my 59th Birthday. I had never been more than a half pack a day smoker, so was probably more a habit than addiction.

I remember leaving the gym after running and weights and as soon as I got in the Yukon to drive home I'd light up. Yep.... stupid.

Don't miss it at all or the expense, but if you asked if I felt better I can honestly say no difference at all. Did notice my skin looks better though.

I quit cope a couple of years ago - really hard to do, especially where I work.

The big boss at my last job used to dip. He was a big, intimidating guy...former Alaska Highway Patrol...you get the picture. Anyway, I don't think I ever saw him spit, so he must have been swallowing tobacco juice. Is this a common practice? It's got to be hell on your upper GI.
