New Sinn Models For BaselWorld 2020

Post by CGSshorty » Wed Apr 29, 2020 1:05 am

Sinn has announced a few new modes today. I know people have been wanting a smaller U1 for a long time; Here is the U50, a 41mm version with 500m WR, along with another variation on the 556 and some new 1739 models.

That 41mm U50 is 11.2 thick and only 74 grams head only. This will be an ideal nato watch for guys like me who found the U1 series too heavy.

Specs place it at about the same size & weight as an EZM3.

Now, how about a U50 Pro no-date please?!

I’m not sure how quickly they’ll be doing special editions on this one. I’m sure they’ll sell very quickly as is.

No doubt that’s true. I still want a no-date.

I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t see a 3-hand model based on the 1.1 case.

U50 is a winner. I just wish they did something to differentiate it from just being a smaller U1, though.

I could see myself wearing any of the new U50s.

Loving the U50 at 41mm. It's a winner and makes the wish list. I have been contemplating the DLC U1 but put off by 44mm.

Couple of other thoughts on the U50:
-I like the fact that it is smaller, lighter, and more easily wearable than the U1. That said, it seems a bit incongruous to have this uber-toolish diver in what amounts to a Submariner-size case. I think it would have made more sense if they had refined the dial and/or hands a bit.
- The U1 Pro is still the best U-series watch in my opinion, and it's not close for me.

The U50 is a winner--Sinn will sell a ton of these... a no date pro model would certainly be awesome but I'll take a 41MM model--- Glad to see Sinn listening.

Damn. I was not planning any new purchases, and Sinn went and made exactly what I wanted in a tool watch with the U50. 11mm thick is awesome. Probably going to reserve one.

my only negative comment is that i wish they'd scaled the dial markings with the dial more. it feels a little crowded in comparison. maybe it won't look as crowded on the wrist as in the pic.

^^ I think the hands need some scaling back, too.

So when is Chris and Sinn going to do the U50 Pro?

They couldn’t make those fast enough. Big win if they do.

It really needs it.

There was always a lot going on with the hands and dial on the U1. The smaller size just accentuates this - and it feels like a lot more of white and red.

I personally think the U1 looks just that tiny bit better proportioned, but it has to be a good move by Sinn to make as slightly smaller version.

Not sure I'd pay more for the U50 though, but I fully get that tooling up for a new case etc. comes at a price.

I'm sure it'll be a hit - look forward to hearing how the new owners like em.

Yeah, the U50 is guaranteed to be a huge hit for Sinn. Cool that they are making them.

I like the U50 size, but still not sold on the proportions and that dial/handset... now make a smaller U2 and I'm in

This U50 is really making me appreciate the T2. The dial/hands proportions seem to work better.

Maybe I'm in the minority but a smaller U1 and some dressier Sinn watches (does anyone buy those?) strikes me as a pretty lacklustre announcement. I'm sure the U50 will be a good seller, but I'm kind of disappointed in the lack of anything really new or interesting here.
