Any tips on bracelet install? - Sinn 212
I beg you for help before I start drinking and take a hammer to this thing.....
I'm attempting to install the bracelet on my Sinn u212, but I'm struggling. I'm not looking to mangle my lugs, but I'm wondering if that is my only option at this point. The endlinks fit nicely, but that lack of play isn't helping me....
Any thoughts, tricks, or common sense fix that I'm missing? I have proper tools, just apparently not proper skills.
Thank you!

Always tricky. Try some lube, throw some furniture around.

Two screwdrivers...
Or buy the spring bar tongs.

You'd be well served to buy this style of spring bar tool. Ofrei is a supplier and Rakutan carries knock offs. My Sawtooth has tight endlink/lug fit and I think the holes don't perfectly align, so I found it necessary to use springbars with standard tips instead of fat Seiko/Sinn style tips.
Similar difficulty is thick straps and hidden or short lugs. I have put a very slight bend in the springbar to make thick straps fit. I don't see a strength issue with a very slight bend because the bend isn't what will take the force of an tug on the strap. Just don't bend it very far or try to remove a bend.

You’re not alone, breathe, take many breaks and don’t ever take it off again. If it’s the same as my UX (I think it is) it’s horrible.

I feel that it’s worth the cost to get spring bar pliers. It’ll save time and lessen headaches.

Make sure you are using the right spring bars. Sinn uses different bars for the bracelet and rubber straps.

I have the "affordable" version of that tool and it's been worth it so far

Re: Any tips on bracelet install? - Sinn 212
thanks everyone. I think i'll order one of the springbar pliers and let myself have a bit of a cooling down period. I'm hoping the springbars are correct since I bought the bracelet new, but I may order some with shoulders to help me out a bit, too.
I did try, but fail with the 2 screwdriver approach, too.
Welp, at least, I no longer feel alone. Thanks!

Have you tried Two Screw Drivers (tm)?
Re: Any tips on bracelet install? - Sinn 212
Sounds like installing the bracelet on the Samurai reissue. There’s absolutely no play in it’s fit and unless you get both sides of the spring bar compressed simultaneously it’s just not going in.

Fkn germans press fit those damn end links and pins. It’s a beautiful thing once you get the damn thing on. I find alcohol helps

I've never had trouble with my U series bracelets, but can't easily get my 103 bracelet back on. I would try the spring bar pliers.
Re: Any tips on bracelet install? - Sinn 212
I use the Spring bar pliers on the ezm1.1. Only way to get the endlinks on easy. Sinn bracelets and spring bars are very tight fit.

Yes, plan on devoting some time to it. And don’t let it get you too pissed off.james80 wrote:You’re not alone, breathe, take many breaks and don’t ever take it off again. If it’s the same as my UX (I think it is) it’s horrible.

Do those spring bar pliers work with shoulder less bars? There’s not much to hold on to.

I am still traumatized since butchering the bracelet off my pelagos a year and half ago.

Yep, the reason why I bought those tongues and dssdgamecock111 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2018 3:21 pmI am still traumatized since butchering the bracelet off my pelagos a year and half ago.
Re: Any tips on bracelet install? - Sinn 212
100% this.
bracelet bars are shorter than the strap bars, so you will struggle putting the longer ones on with the bracelet. It is actually worse if you succeed, because removing them will be VERY VERY difficult.
My EZM13 came on bracelet, and that is what the AD had done. I basically had to destroy the bar to remove it.
Not just Sinns also - Omega and others generally seems to have longer strap / shorter bracelet spring bars.

Yep, the planet ocean has 20mm springbars for straps but for the bracelet you use 19mm springbars.

I have never ever been able to put on any Sinn bracelet myself. The fit is really tight. I just take it to my watchmaker that puts it on for free.
