All Black Sinns
I was never into PVD watches, but today something clicked and I've been investigated black Sinns. So far the models that have stuck out are the U1, U2 and 857.
I think for my first foray into black watches, Sinn would be a good brand to go with, since I have been wanting something from Sinn, and their PVD is probably one of the best out there.
What do you guys think of these watches? I know the U1 could be very hard to get (and mucho $$$$) since it was a LE, but the U2 and 857 could probably be found in the SCs without waiting too long.
I also like the U1 SDR, but I'm not sure if it's bad-ass enough

Re: All Black Sinns
I really like the U1 SDR. It has the great U1 lines, but is just different enough to stand apart from the standard version. If I were to buy one, it would probably be that version!
PVD scares me though...with the scratches etc. I wonder what the cost getting a DLC coat on a standard U1 bezel. I know it is prett expensive, but it will be 100X more durable than PVD!

Re: All Black Sinns
I have several PVD watches, but can't bring myself to get a Sinn in PVD. Not sure why.
Haven't scratched any of my PVD watches either, but I think I would be less sick if I did......unless it was to a Sinn.
Me being a pussy aside, they look freaking awesome. I do like the U1 SDR as I think the contrast between the case and the bezel is cool.
One item to note on a PVD watch. With an all black watch it's harder to see/appreciate the lines of the case and other areas of the watch, and I find them harder to photograph as well. That said, PVD watches are very cool, and having at least one in any collection is a good thing IMHO.

Re: All Black Sinns
The Sinn U1 Black Hour Glass LE is pretty much the baddest assed all-black watch out there, IMO. My buddy Dr. Jeff has one (formerly Luke's), and it really has to be seen to be appreciated.
So young padawan, if you want to take it for a spin, it can be arranged.

Adam

That sure is one badass mofo, but I don't know if I could even get one if I wanted to; a search of the TZ SC doesn't look too good. Plus they go for around 2500 bucks. If it becomes a real possibility, I'll let you know about taking it out for a spin (thanks buddy).
This thread is missing a picture of a black 757-

Re: All Black Sinns
I love all of the aforementioned Sinns. Are we talking about the U1 Tempus LE, or the U1 black? They're really very different. And if you don't mind going semi-tac, you can't go wrong with the U1 SDR--quite a bargain IMO.

The SDR is definitely the most attractive price-wise, but I don't know if I'd miss a black case
And by the way, wasn't Watchbuys supposed to have them back in stock by now?

Re: All Black Sinns
I feel the same way, but remember.......if you are getting one for the "look" that's fine. If you are counting on the PVD not scratching....don't....I can tell you from experience that it will scratch.
Re: All Black Sinns
Once you go black...
Jay's black 757 is the chit, and so is his white dialed Damasko. You planning on going rubber or bracelet? 757 utc on sinn rubber seems like a winner w/the Damasko closely in second
I the look of pvd. However, once I see it on my wrist I can't get used to it. Rick let me take the 750t milshark for a spin before I ultimately decided on the 103. Something about a pvd watch just seems to clash with my rugged, yet sexy skin complexion

I may go rubber just because Sinn rubber rocks and there is less PVD to scratch that way.

What does a PVD scratch look like? Small hairlines that you need to look for, or noticeable chunks of black missing, revealing the steel underneath?Chauncy7 wrote:I feel the same way, but remember.......if you are getting one for the "look" that's fine. Here's another thought, what if I buy a regular U1, and have it DLC'ed? Anyone have an idea of what this would cost?

Not sure...you could buy an extra bezel and have it DLC'd too. That way, you have both looks...no clue on cost of DLC. I remember that one of the members had a Marathon DLC'd and it was pretty expensive, but just a bezel should not be too bad.
Re: All Black Sinns
I got the SAR DLC'd. Cost me about $600 total for bead-blasting and DLC, including diassembly and shipping. Really affordable if you ask me.
