New Sinn TESTAF DIN 8330 models

Post by CGSshorty » Thu Jul 07, 2016 6:45 pm

Three new models are being released to commemorate the launching of TESTAF standards which officially define what qualities as a pilot's watch. The models are the 103 Ti IFR, 103 Ti UTC IFR, and 857 UTC VFR. Apparently, there are more models to come. The 103s are made of titanium.

I like them. Sinn really does like to pour on what is really (for most of us) extraneous tech. In other words, I'd rather pay half the price for the watch without all the tech.

I agree. Fortunately, they offer several variations of most of their lines. You can get a base 103 acrylic all the way up to a DIAPAL, with several options in between.

I like them, but at least for the stock photos I could do without the DIN 8330 text and logo on the dial. Would like to see them in person.

I'll post better photos once I get them. I'm not sure I love the dead space between 3 and 6 on the dial. I am a big fan of the original 103 TESTAF.

Exactly. Logo looks much better on the last one without the dead space. At least from these photos.

New Sinn TESTAF DIN 8330 models

Post by matt.wu » Thu Jul 07, 2016 7:43 pm

GMT chrono in the mid is almost perfect. I'd want a 60-min counter (like the U1000) and to move it to 6 o'clock. Then "Sinn" at 12 and the logo smaller at 3

(I sound like Ed... "Oh and drilled lugs, and no date, and charge $10 for it")

As much as I want to love that 103- it's a 30min counter. Which is incredibly pointless and a waste of a chrono function. Idiots.

This would be the perfect watch for a 60 minute counter.

Yes, you're right. It would be the perfect 60min counter watch.
I don't mind the airplane logo, I kinda like it. But half of the dial is dead space. Unreal. I would have pre ordered this if it was a 60min.

They look good, but I still like the classic 103 syringe hands the best

Exactly. I do like the options. And I absolutely love my low-end acrylic 103.

I like the 103 Ti UTC IFR the best but I love almost all Sinn's offered! Now as I have said before all I need is an additional good paying job for this crazy ass hobby!
Regards,

Mark

That cyclops sub dial is brutally ugly. It looks like someone shot the watch in the forehead.
