I believe they use both. Hirsch is now a huge player in the OEM strap business.gr8sw wrote:they used to be Di-Modell years ago... think they're Hirsch now...fastward wrote:Aren't Sinn leather straps just rebranded Di-Modell straps?

Re: Sinn 103 St Acrylic
Whether it's dimodell or hirsch, the OEM is actually a nice strap, but the dimodell I ordered flares out to 22mm, which I think I'll prefer. I'm not a big strap changer, I usually find one strap I like for a watch and never change it.fastward wrote:Aren't Sinn leather straps just rebranded Di-Modell straps?
Re: Sinn 103 St Acrylic
Why don't you make yourself a strap? You used to be pretty good at that, if I remember right.

Re: Sinn 103 St Acrylic
That's not a bad idea. I had lent out my strap tools and haven't made a strap in a couple years, but just recently got my tools back to fix my wife's purse. Oddly enough, it didn't even occur to me to make my own strap. I used to make Panerai straps, and tend to think that style strap would overwhelm a 103, but I may try it.CGSshorty wrote:Why don't you make yourself a strap? Just make it proportionally smaller all around.jswing wrote:That's not a bad idea. I think you're right, it certainly looks the same. That looks great. The Pilot I ordered is basically the same but without the extra flap at the lugs. I like that it flares out at the lugs.Joeprez wrote:Di modell chronissimo, I believe is the same strap sold by Sinn. I really like it on my 857.

Like it... And they are very comfortable.

Yes. He did a nice job on this one. He made me another that I think is too thick, so it looks like a narrow Panerai strap.jswing wrote:That does look nice. Re: Sinn 103 St Acrylic
That's my problem. The leather I have was specifically ordered from horween to make 4-5mm thick straps, which IMO is too thick for a Sinn, and I don't have a splitter to evenly thin the leather. I have occasionally used a skiv to thin leather, but it doesn't come out perfectly even. Still, I'm going to try making one when I get some time.CGSshorty wrote:Yes. He did a nice job on this one. I ordered one of these for the 103, I'll post pics when I get it next week.

I stand corrected, Sinn still uses the Di-Modell 'Chronissimo'...
but their regular straps moved from Di-Modell to Hirsch... I preferred the DM

Re: Sinn 103 St Acrylic
The Di-Modell Pilot just arrived. Very nice strap, but I'm not sure I love it on the 103. I got it because I thought the wider strap might give the somewhat smallish 103 some extra presence, but I'm thinking it actually makes it seem smaller. I'll give it a couple days.
On a side note, I'm never buying another watch without drilled lugs again.

Re: Sinn 103 St Acrylic
One of the things I like about custom straps is they fill the gap better than OEM style straps. There is plenty of room on the 103 case so the strap won't rub on the case.

Yes jswing I dislike the chronissimo for the same reason (also its very thick). The Pilot by itself is a great strap though.

Yup, the big gap accentuates what I'm not liking about this strap. Oh well.CGSshorty wrote:One of the things I like about custom straps is they fill the gap better than OEM style straps. There is plenty of room on the 103 case so the strap won't rub on the case.

I chose this over the chronissimo because I thought it be less overwhelming. I have no other watch for the strap either. Live and learn.blowfish89 wrote:Yes jswing I dislike the chronissimo for the same reason (also its very thick). The Pilot by itself is a great strap though.

Natos fill the unsightly gap.

Still one of my favorite Sinns. The 103, and 356 variants.

Lume is pretty good for a non-diver.

Its not a speedy, it has 200m WR and a fully graduated rotating bezel, it is a diver. Its also a flieger. And also a chronograph naturally.

Re: Sinn 103 St Acrylic
It is 200m WR, but it's also got a very free moving bi-directional bezel, and non screw down chrono pushers. It's really not intended to be a diver.blowfish89 wrote:Its not a speedy, it has 200m WR and a fully graduated rotating bezel, it is a diver. Its also a flieger. And also a chronograph naturally.
