Has any one ever used RGM to service a Sinn

Post by River Rat » Tue Jul 07, 2015 6:43 am

I got a vintage Sinn that needs a little work has any one ever used RGM I know they do warranty work for Sinn. The price for a chronograph service is fair I think I paid a lot more for my Hanhart when I got it serviced.

Moke I'm gonna have to tell you to use the search function, mmmkkaay? Yeah that would be great.
I've typed out my story a few times In the sinn forum w threads of the same title. Shouldn't be hard to find.

I used them once...overall they did a good job and it was fast. It was warranty work on my 104.

I sent my dropped and damaged 903 to them.

Besides replacing the rear crystal, they had to overhaul the entire movement.

I don't recall exactly how long it took, but turn-around time was reasonable and watch runs and looks great.

I used RGM to tighten up the bezel on my old U1. I know it's not a service, but they did a good job

I sent my U1 to them for a new crystal. They said they couldn't do it. I had to send it to Sinn in Germany(it wasn't under warranty). That was a while ago, don't know if that has changed...

They serviced old EZM1. Everything was good.

Piqued my curiosity, so I called to ask.

The U series divers still have to go to Germany for crystal replacement.

I was told a special adhesive is used that RGM does not have.

Unless that adhesive is banned in the USA, which is possible, that's ridiculous.

At the time they told me it was because they didn't have some piece of special equipment.

Regardless, it would have been nice if they would have told me they couldn't change the crystal before I spent 40 bucks on shipping it out to them. (I did email them and give them a list of things I wanted done before I sent it.)

The way it has sound over the years is RGM is wishy-washy on what they service for Sinn. And you won't usually get an answer until you waste money sending it to RGM.

Nope, sent it back to me with instructions on how to ship it to Germany.

crystals in a dive watch require a special waterproof adhesive installed with a UV cure: some places have a special chamber in which this is done. places like mercedes and porsche use a similar system. So it has to go back to frankfurt.

Yet I can have a crystal replaced on a ref 16600 Rolex SD, without any BS, at my local watchmaker.

yea, I don't believe rolex uses the liquid adhesive: probably a gasket.

your right Rolex uses a gasket but there is nothing special about UV curing of the adhesive, that is why it is silly.
