I would assume that they would stop with the increases when it affected annual watch sales.

Don't Patek, Lange, AP and Seiko do everything in-house? If so, they have better control over cost increases. Sinn may be passing along increases they are receiving.

Only Seiko has full vertically integrated production.

Bullshit. They are no tougher than anything else out there. Ask me (or mattcantwin) how I know.
Truth to be told.... I haven't owned my U1 for a long time... but seems to be a tough watch.

I don't necessarily see the gmt's or chronos too overprice at this point... But its getting there with the three handers.
Or Paul. Wasn't it a piece of dust that stopped his U1 cold?

I wrote Sinn off after the last increase. They are becoming irrelevant now and will eventually price themselves out of the market. So in my mind that saying about "for a little bit more" rings very true.

Kobold looks like a bargain now.

The issue is tied to resale value. Rolex has been able to hold that value. So far. Signs of market correction may already be here. Kobold has learned that lesson.

At least with a Sinn watch you can rest assured it was quality control checked prior to receipt.

... although I agree that Kobold pricing has been more reasonable lately. I think they even dropped some prices. :koolaid:

How many times did you need to send it back in order for it to be excellent?
Isn't there a story behind the 10 yr warranty?

One of these days Chris might share some of his Kobold QC experiences.

First one, the bead blasted case, had a problem with the seconds hand sticking on the minute hand. There was too much paint on the tip of seconds hand (I had requested that mod). I sent it back, then they replaced with new watch with brushed case. That one was perfect from the start.

10-year warranty on mine, in part as a gesture to make up for the colossal screw up with servicing my Arctic Diver (which is now owned by someone else). That 10-year warranty is why, if I ever sell my Soarway Diver, it will cost the buyer more than others.

I've told Mike that of he could fix their QC issues they would be golden.

I agree... Unfortunately I don't see it on the horizon given several other debacles I've heard about recently....and I'm a koolaid drinker at heart.

I swear Kobold's problems are caused by a few employees that have outlived their usefulness. He needs to stop being loyal to the dead wood and surround himself with some Bremont level employees.

I made this suggestion to Mike too, but I don't think he sees it as we do. I agree, the guys are clearly nice and friendly, but if they don't uphold the brand and high standards, they must go. This isn't the first time they have experienced issues.
