Sinn hydro questions

Post by kempoman » Wed Apr 30, 2014 12:46 am

Guys, This is the only Sinn model (b'cos is quartz) that i am not familiar with. It only caught my eyes when the 40 units of issued "Manufactum" Hydro were posted in the forum year 2011. Since then i keep an eye for one of the issued piece if available.
If i may ask,
1) What was the original sales price for a normal unit?
1) why a normal EZM2 Hydro is increasing in value? (Saw a few recent sales posts starting of min $1.5k)
2) Also, is the movement same with Sinn UX?
Thanks.
P/S: So, who still owns the issued pcs in this forum?

EZM2 were routinely selling for under $1000 (usually $600-$800) around 8-10 years ago... believe MSRP was around $1500 then, but prices have increased since they were disco'd a few years back in favor of the UX...

was very lucky to get one of the original 40 Manufactum issued pieces... have been offered nearly 3x what I paid and haven't seen any come up FS on the secondary market...

The best issued EZM i've seen so far. Do you think they own the same movement with UX?

Sinn needs to up its quartz game. Not thermocompensated and no independently adjustable hour hand for quick time changes make it inferior to others available. But the UX is a hell of a nice package.

http://www.deskdivers.com/Site/EZM.html

this says the original EZM2 had an ETA 955.612, the Sinn.de site says the UX has ETA 955.652, whatever the difference may be...

The current UX is thermocompensated (i believe rated +/- 10 secs a year), functional from -4f to 120f degrees, 5000m movement water resistance and 12000m case water resistance. How is that inferior to others?

If that is true I stand corrected. I still want an independently adjustable hour hand.

^ I've had both and felt the same way. Loved the UX, was meh about the U2.

Also, black finish on the U2 starting wearing off within a few weeks from contact with clothing. Disappointed.

I had a less than satisfactory experience with a Sinn service under warranty. If I ever get another I'll consider it disposable.

I've posted this here before. I have a 757 UTC. It's fatal flaw is that the aluminum bezel insert rises about a millimeter above the bezel itself. That makes it a scratch magnet. I sent it back to Sinn under warranty because it inexplicably stopped. I additionally asked that they replace the insert at my cost. They corrected the movement issue but sent back the watch without replacing the insert. Very disappointing.

Sinn service issues abound on the fora. They make nice watches but Germans are never wrong. I believe it to be a cultural issue. Live in an ex-pat world for a couple years and it becomes quite apparent that cultural stereotypes have their origins in fact.
