I'm not sure I would say they have a bad service rep, some watchmakers don't enjoy working on them which leaves the market open to specialists, which is probably for the better.marchone wrote:L5100s have a bad service rep. Sub-$3K sounds right but the market hasn't agreed yet.
Hands not resetting is generally down to the user occasionally not fully depressing the pusher, a second press sets everything as normal.
Poor PR was a small batch of EZMs that had a small batch of winding staffs of the wrong size. Sinn did a free service for those affected.
Sinn bought stock that was enough to supply parts for 'the foreseeable future'. L5100 parts are not too problematic to get generally.
The market is the market, the $3k one above sold very quickly, others at $4.5k have taken a long time to sell so dependent on type & condition, at the moment the market is between these two points I'd say. Otherwise I'd say that long term the watch will stay at about this value and may increase/decrease incrementally along with other prices.
