Sinn factory visit

Post by Chief Big Watch » Sun Mar 14, 2010 5:37 pm

So, last week I had a chance to spend some time in Frankfurt, and decided to make a short trip to Sinn factory. Unfortunately, somehow I got sick (gazylion trips in the past and first time got sick), and although I made it, I really don't remember much from the trip. Anyhow, when I got back home I noticed many pic on my camera, so not everything got lost. Somehow I also managed to get German and English catalogs. Without more explanations here are some pics.
On the way, signs sure help…

The first floor display

Now, short walk upstairs to the display room…

In the room:

And the roooooooooow of watches, this thing is fricking awesome…

OK, now some pics of display cases and the aquarium

OK, and onto the main event, trying on all those watches, well almost all, there is no time to try them all…
The original…

Fat U

And baby U

Now original U and baby U side by side

And all together

Now one funny thing I noticed was the difference between dials on some UX models, especially a logo. Here is side by side.

OK, after the Us, off to 757 as one of them is on my radar screen

And of course my own U1 in front of the aquarium

Saying good bye

I just wet myself. In the good way.

Thanks a bunch, I think thats the best Sinn Photo shoot I have ever seen. Nice pics and great coverage.

The U200 looks much better on the wrist, than the specs led me to think. Of course the 757s are the shizzle. :fro:

Thanks for the tour. I would have had to leave my credit card home. :crybaby:

Very nice! I thought the place would be bigger somehow  I would have to leave my credit card at home before visiting a place like that though

Dom, welcome to the dark side

Yeah, it is really an experience to see all those watches in one place. The show room is not big, but you can find there any Sinn watch that is sold on German market. I have asked to see Sinn's that are for other markets, but no luck. The guy at the front desk is not the friendliest one, so I did not push

U200 was a little small for my wrist, and U1000 fit like a glove, and although I like the design and the case, I did not care for the sub-dials hands.

I like that U200. Date window placement is cool.

Not feelin' that 5-link bracelet on the 757. Their standard bracelet is as good as it gets IMO.

Some good photo's of the Sinn factory.I was wondering do you get a better price for a watch from the factory when you visit it on a tour of the factory.

Supposedly you can get 10% off if paid with cash, but I have not verified it. In addition if you are non EU citizen you can get 19% back claimed at the airport customs.

Thanks for the photo essay - sorry you were sick but man you took some great photos.

Nice to see the prices listed for the straps and such. With 10% off for cash and 19% back at exit (and I am told that the Sinn factory gives you the green export card so you can turn that in at the airport, get it stamped or whatever, and Sinn will deposit the entire 19% (no "fees") into your designated account. Takes longer from what I've read but you get it ALL back  ) that makes things decidedly cheaper if you happen to be in Frankfurt.

For example, the Flieger strap in the case is listed as 75 euros. Well, with those discounts/rebates it comes to $67.13us for something that costs around $120 from the US AD.

Haven't seen the baseball cap for sale elsewhere either. Oh, the US AD has one but it does not include the subtext "Spezialuhren" - wonder what they run and if you can get them from Germany?

Very cool.

Might be a reason to go back and visit the 'Vaterland' :)
