Purchase of new Doxa online
So, I've been a watch guy for decades with Rolex, Breitling, Omega and Seiko brands.
Been into Doxa for the last two weeks.
While I have loved going on the Forum sites of the brands I own for many years up to this day, I have read just about all of the Doxa posts on its sub forum on DWC, over the last two weeks, which I have really enjoyed.
Seems as though opinion of those longterm Doxa aficionados "in the know", is that vintage Doxa models are the best representations of the brand.
I however, am woefully inadaquate as to the subleties of purchasing the "right" vintage first Doxa.
So, I have decided to purchase new, via the Doxa site, to begin my relationship with the brand.
Given the limited choices of models in stock on the website, the following are a few potential choices my "newby" opinion has come up with.
Sub 1200T Professional, Sub 1500T Searambler, Sub 300 T-graph Sharkhunter, the T-graph being possibly too large.
I do like a medium, to larger sized watch as I currently own a Rolex Sub, a Breitling Superocean, a Seiko MM300, an Omega 300 Diver "Bond" watch, as well as a new Rolex 39mm Explorer.
Are any of the three Doxa's I listed above, more likely than not, able to satisfy a guy that enjoys a watch with good wrist presence, high quality that does the job it was built to do well and true personality different from most others? Are any of the models I chose more emblematic of the Doxa brand than the others?
Thanks,
Ken

Ken,
The 1200T Professional is the one to have with your other watches. I have owned the same model 4 different times over the years. It’s the perfect new Doxa to have as a first. I’ve had a 1500T and a 300T Graph as well. The 1200T wears perfect.

Personally I think you should checkout the 300 reissues... to me the best sized doxas.

I can only speak to the 1200T - it's a great watch. Good size and very comfortable. I think the 1500 and the current iteration of the T Graph would be too large for me (and I don't really like the modern T Graph design).
The 300 reissues look cool, but I wonder if I'd find the dial too small. That's what some past owners have reported - others love them. The domed crystals on the reissues looks terrific.

I had a 1200 Sharkhunter. One of the few I truly regret selling.

Re: Purchase of new Doxa online
Thanks for the helpful comments everybody. Looks like the 1200T Pro is the overwhelming favorite of those that answered my post for what is in stock through the Doxa website.
I am a bit surprised that the larger 1500T didn't get any consideration from those that replied to my questions.
Anybody live in Manhattan that owns either of these models that wants to have some social drinks, my treat, to show me what these bad boys look like in the metal?
Thanks,
Ken

Hook up with Red Bar and Analog/Shift. You’ll most likely see some cool Doxas.

I’ve wanted a 1200t for a long time and never committed.

Re: Purchase of new Doxa online
Go with the 1200T Pro if they're still available, it's a little larger and an improvement over (imho)and fits even better than the older 1000 and 600's I had, the 1500 seems a smidge too "bulky"...need to pick up another 1200 before summer....
Re: Purchase of new Doxa online
1200T is the same size as the iconic classic 300Ts, so that's my choice. And I prefer the Professional.

I think the 1200 is the best fitting version. And the dial is large enough to read.

Love the Sharkhunter. I think that’s what I would get. Kind of blasphemous but I’m not really an orange dial fan even though I like the brand.

Thanks for all the informative replies.
When purchasing the watches I currently own, I was easily able to have the metal bracelets sized at the AD or boutique where purchased. This option is not available with Doxa.
Does anybody have a reliable jeweler in Manhattan that can size the bracelet when I receive the watch?
Thanks,
Ken

Good excuse to buy a $5 screwdriver and learn yourself. Not difficult.nystockboy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 10:15 amThanks for all the informative replies.

Thanks for the advice.
For the time being, I'd prefer a good Manhattan jeweler so I don't have to learn on a new bracelet.

For that matter just buy a cheap watch tool kit online. It’ll come in handy sometime.dnslater wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 4:23 pmGood excuse to buy a $5 screwdriver and learn yourself. Not difficult.nystockboy wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 10:15 amThanks for all the informative replies.
