Doxa 300 "Silver Lung"

Post by 3migo » Mon Jul 23, 2018 7:06 am

As many folks probably saw coming with Doxa's reissue fever recently... They just showed off the new 300 Searambler with aqua lung logo. Image

Given the success of the Black Lung, this is hardly a surprise, but dammit. The silver is so good.

It’s a damn shame too.

While I understand the relationship ties, the logos completely turn me off. In fact, I’d own that sexy yellow one if it lost that logo.

I normally hate superfluous branding on a dial, but for some reason I've always preferred the DOXAs with logos. What I don't like about the 300 reissue is the tiny dial. If this was on a 'T' reissue then I'd be interested. I'm also not sure that the yellow/black logo really works with the Searambler color scheme...

What I object to is paying a hefty premium for a logo. Of course the Black Lung releases will have a better resale than the regular 300 Subs, but on the flip side, a new Black Lung release will increase the odds of a better deal on a pre-owned non-logoed version. I got a great deal on my 300 Professional and I suspect the same will happen with the 300 Searambler.

The dive knife is available for Silver Sub buyers only. I didn’t see one for previous editions.

I live this one but it seems the same size and small dial opening of my black 300 :(
Wish it was sized like a 1200.

Hate that logo. Good thing they have the sterile version.

From the pictures I have seen it looks like the right logo but the wrong color for the silver dial. It just feels like a money grab to me. There will be a shark hunter with the same logo I would imagine slapped on it too in the wrong color most likely.

Said something similar above. It may have been better for them to use the standard "US Divers Co." logo as those did exist on all variants of the dial and didn't have a solid background.

This is the rambler colored in logo. Pic from WUS.Image

I agree if they were going to use the same logo on all the dials they would have been better off using the outline logo.

Just makes me appreciate my non logo even more Image.

I like it, but I like the Pro version better. As Andrew said I think the outline logo would have worked better on the silver dial.
Also not sure it is worth the extra premium.

right, every few years they regurgitate another version of a previous model.

Pass. I’ll wait for the BiPax 300 case in Pro and Searambler. I read rumor somewhere to be released probably in 2019.
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.

I'd rather have a Seiko Turtle. Is this another one with a pregnant case and a nickel size dial?
