Which Doxa am i looking for?
Which Doxa am i looking for? I only found one on the Doxa site with chrome hands and indices, the 5000T. Did they make any other models with chrome hands? Ive seriously got to start saving for a Doxa.

Re: Which Doxa am i looking for?
A little more useful answer. The 5000T is the only one with polished hands. The rest of the lineup is black, white, or orange (or some combination) depending on the dial color. On the Doxa forum on WUS, they've started their tease game about a new model to celebrate ten years of Doxa Sub reissues, who knows what that'll have.snootydog wrote:Which Doxa am i looking for? If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.
Re: Which Doxa am i looking for?
Yes indeed the Doxa tease game has begun its usual , and when I and a couple
of other posters gently called Doxa on this
my posting and the others were quickly deleted! Essentially the Doxa "elves" are on Vacation till
end of August, etc and that after great pain and suffering ...because Doxa love ya...the new
watch (10 yr edition) should appear just in time for Christmas deliver. I do like Doxa watches
but Doxa marketing sssssucks...just drop the dead donkey already and let's get on with it.
P.s its the same for the new 1200t Numa Edition. $1650 W/ 1K non refundable deposit
due now w/no delivery date set and no final pic of Doxa or the much touted Numa design
logo Vs mini patch on the watch.
Cheers all

Not a lot of love for Doxa at the moment then? Is that why there have been so many on the sales forums at good prices?
Re: Which Doxa am i looking for?
Weird you say that because I was just thinking it the other day. Never have I seen so many decent Doxas going for relatively good prices.snootydog wrote:Not a lot of love for Doxa at the moment then? Is that why there have been so many on the sales forums at good prices?

It's nothing new Andy. DOXA the company/forum has ALWAYS sucked ass. The watches rock though. Now is the time to buy used. They are going at GREAT prices on the SC's.

My Doxa fund is coming along, slowly but surely. Thing is,i may have to re think which one to get because the 5000T is big. Do you think maybe too big for my 7.25 inch wrist? Some of the range have quite small dials, which i don't want. Which is the next size case down but with largest dial...in orange?

I had this and loved every minute of it. Killer piece. Not what you asked about, but what the heck.

Re: Which Doxa am i looking for?
You should be looking for the Doxa size that you like best on your wrist.
My first Doxa was a 750T Searambler. The more I wore it the more I felt the case size was too large for my taste...
not necessarily my wrist (which is 7 1/2").
Then I picked up a TUSA (same case size as the 1000T) and initially felt that the dial was indeed too small.
The more I wore the TUSA, the more I liked that size Doxa.
I ended up trading my 750T for a 1000T Professional thanks to the kind heart of the world famous matt.wu.
Although the dials are smaller on the 1000T, there is no issue reading the time easily and accurately.
However, this still comes back to what you like on your own wrist.
If at all possible, see if you can try both sizes on before purchasing.

These are not the droids you're looking for.
Steve needs little reason for gratuitous repostings of his favorite pieces. If I ever get a web cam Steve, I'll call you so you can look at it live. I won't tell you before hand, but I will be naked.
That should put an end to his sentimental attachment to that particular DOXA. Cover your eyes all you want Stevie baby, but that image is inside your head...and it ain't going away.
Personally, I have a wrist that's between 7.25 and 7.5, and I am fine with the 5000T.
Not a great shot for seeing case size to wrist size, but if I have to look at Steve's picture...he has to look at mine.

Re: Which Doxa am i looking for?
Trying first would be ideal but i don't know anyone in England who has one. The nearest I've even been to a Doxa is the one worn by the driver of a car overtaking me....you can't mistake a Doxa, even at 20ft. I guess i could try something with a 45mm case in a shop though, just to gauge the size.
Re: Which Doxa am i looking for?
1200 is more closely related to the 1000. The 750 is larger is just about every dimension. And on my wrist, all three were comfortable enough, but the 1000T was most at home.vbuskirk wrote:Any opinions out there regarding 1200 vs. 750?

Re: Which Doxa am i looking for?
The only reason I like 1000/1200 series is that they are along the size of the 300 series.
I am the minority, but I found the 750 series larger than my liking.

Re: Which Doxa am i looking for?
I'm with Doug (well, except for the naked web cam part ) My wrist is right about the same size and I find the 5000T to be a perfect fit for me. The case is beefier than the 750T but the 750T seems to "feel" wider on the wrist. Strange, I know.

Re: Which Doxa am i looking for?
Thanks for all the help and opinions guys. I love the look of the 5000T yet ithink it may be the wrong one for me. If only it wasn't the only one with chrome hands.....hmmm i wonder if anyone has modded a 1000T with chrome hands. One major drawback is that you can't get an orange rubber Doxa strap for the 5000T. Maybe i should just stick to my Samurai for my orange/chrome fix and get a Sinn U1. I guess i will know one way or the other by the time i have saved enough for either.

You can include me in that minority.demer03 wrote:The only reason I like 1000/1200 series is that they are along the size of the 300 series.

While I am at it, I have also grown tired of the orange numbers and hands on the Doxa's (I know, Blasphemy) I always like when Paul would fill in the orange numbers with black on his to change that. Too bad there are not more with the polished or all white hands.
Regards
