Doxa Sub 1500T with Soprod A10
Has anyone had experience with a Soprod movement not building adequate power reserve during normal daily wear. I wear the watch 10 to 12 hours per day in a fairly active job.

I have two watches with this movement and no issues at all honestly.

I put 40 turns on the crown Saturday morning and wore the watch as described in the first post. When I put it on this morning it was stopped. It had been stationary for about 10 hours.

you definitely have an issue with it. I suppose it is still under warranty, right?David Powell wrote:I put 40 turns on the crown Saturday morning and wore the watch as described in the first post. When I put it on this morning it was stopped. It had been stationary for about 10 hours.

My Aegir has the worst power reserve of all my watches. Perhaps it needs more winding than 40 turns? That's about all I ever give mine.

I guess I'll give Doxa a shot at it under warranty. Although it will be easy for them to come back with no problem found since power reserve is a bit of a nebulous issue. But they can have a go at it.

Good luck. DOXA has always done fine by me. Don't take my concerns seriously, it's likely an unfounded worry on my part.

As a follow up, Doxa wants me to ship the watch to Zurich to be checked. I thought they had an authorized service center stateside. Hmmm?

I thought I was the only one. I have two CD2s and one definitely runs out of power fairly quickly. I only turn the crown maybe 5 times though and then start wearing it, but one is significantly better than the other by a long shot it seems.toxicavenger wrote:really? now I will pay closer attention to mine.CGSshorty wrote:My Aegir has the worst power reserve of all my watches. So basically you can fully wind the spring with approx 40 turns or just less on the crown. If you wind more, nothing happens as it has a clutch and ''slips'' so you cant break anything.David Powell wrote:Has anyone had experience with a Soprod movement not building adequate power reserve during normal daily wear. You will not get a full wind by wearing it after a few turns to get it going, the rotor just wont wind that spring all the way so that is why you will get 10/15 etc hours on the watch on the table and find it stopped.
My experience with the A10 is it will not give the power reserve quoted. You can wind it say 35 turns and leave it on the desk and it will run near the quoted number, but they would have got that number in perfect conditions to give them the number they wanted.
I have tested many A10 movements on the desk, and I find the ones I wear will get 28 to 32 hours and the only time you will get near the claimed reserve is with a full wind and leave it ticking away on the desk.
I originally thought the spring in my own watch was faulty , but as I added two more A10 movements to my own daily wearers, they were about the same. That is when I started to test a couple, and found what I mentioned above. So it appears normal for the A10, and I would assume (just my opinion) the mainspring is a little shorter than say an ETA 2892. But that is not me having any info, just what I suspect on testing a couple myself. I have no ETA movements to test to compare though except the 7750 , but that is not necessarily a good one to compare as a chrono would likely have a bigger spring.

Great info Todd! Kind of like how they determine the mpg's on a car in "ideal" environments and not in the real settingst20569cald wrote:So basically you can fully wind the spring with approx 40 turns or just less on the crown. Re: Doxa Sub 1500T with Soprod A10
I am putting a full 40 turns on it before wearing it, then wearing it actively for 10 to 12 hours per day. By the 4th day it seems to be down to 10 to 12 hours of reserve. I generally don't have a problem with my automatics maintaining near full reserve during my normal wearing cycle. This is the first A10 I have owned, thus the question. I don't experience this issue with properly running ETA's or various Asian movements.
Re: Doxa Sub 1500T with Soprod A10
Well, I do have a pre-owned 1500t Searambler that's only a few months old on its way to me. I was bummed that I missed out on the 750t Caribbean GMT offering, which was done before I even realized it was there. The Divingstar and the Sharkhunter are the only DOXA dials that do not touch my soul. The 1500t Searambler was priced very nicely and should make a good consolation prize. Should have some pics in a couple days. Haven't taken the time to thoroughly test the reserve of the Soprod movement on my CD-2, but haven't noticed any issues with it.
No, it's not Tourettes.
