Just in - 1200T Caribbean
Just in - 1200T Caribbean
My latest acquisition, the Doxa 1200T Caribbean 'MK2'
No in depth review here, just a few thoughts and more importantly some pics..
Pros:
Seems like a good size and fit for me so far. It's quite heavy for its size, but wears comfortably all day (BOR FTW!).
Vintage vibe, but in a modern watch; Domed crystal, cushion case, beads of rice bracelet.
Clean uncluttered look (no extra logos, no orange anywhere, cleaner metric bezel) Just lots of steel, white, blue.
Cons:
Some may find it a bit too sparse or bland compared to other Doxas (pro for me).
I would prefer a taper in the bracelet.
Clasp is shitty pressed metal, like you would find on a much cheaper watch.
Bezel pip is misaligned half a click - a common Doxa 'idiosyncrasy' with the full steel bezel apparently.
Timekeeping is about +10 per day, so could be regulated better.
Extra details:
The blue is a mid blue (same as the Numa LE) and has a slightly textured satin finish. The shade of blue changes quite a bit depending on the light.
Metric bezel markings instead of the standard Doxa bezel markings, with colour coded blue numerals. Makes for a cleaner look IMO.
I think the 'MK2' moniker essentially refers to the updated individual beads of rice bracelet as far as I know.
It was a bit of an impulse buy, but does tick a few boxes for me and I am enjoying it so far (I thought about it Monday, ordered it Tuesday, and arrived Friday! - sucks to be the guys that waited through 4 months of delayed preorder )

If I was to pickup another blue dial diver than this would be the one. Great looking piece. Congrats!

Blue and white with no stupid logos is the perfect Doxa. If only it was a 750.

Congrats!!
I like the clean look with no third color (orange) to deal with. (I have an aversion to blue and orange I can't get over)

Congrats!
I'm not a big blue dial watch fan, but this looks pretty cool! I do like the 1200t and think they are the perfect Doxa.
You mention a new style beads of rice bracelet. Do you know if these are available individually? I don't see these on the Doxa site.

Thanks guys.

You could also send Doxa an email, they are fairly responsive.
They are available seperately I believe - it is mentioned on page 6 of this thread on the WUS Doxa forum, with a link to an order form:CoachH wrote:Congrats!

Re: Just in - 1200T Caribbean
BAM
1200 is my favorite - and I've had most of the modern Doxas
slightly domed crystal, upgraded bracelet, no orang hand, perfect size.
Great pickup! Congrats
