Fun w/ my 750T Pro

Post by rpmooreii » Sun Jun 21, 2015 11:55 am

As I wear my 750T regularly in the ocean, virtually all of the orange and most of the black bezel paint has worn away. After reading a few thread on restoring the bezels, I decided to try it on my watch this weekend.

While I love my orange Pro dial, I have never been that fond of the orange numbers on the no decomp side of the bezel and have seen some vintage pieces with red numerals. After exchanging emails w/ Doxa guru Pete Millar, I decided to mix up a orange/red mixture from some of my sons paints and go to work on the bezel. It still needs a bit cleaning up under the zoom of the pics but to eye it looks great. I was also pleased by Dr. Millar's comments on the finished product and I quote:

"Oh yea. Now that is the business. Just perfect.

Nice one."

I realize this isn't original and some purists may scoff, but I fully expect it to wear off in the water within the next year so I can always go back to original orange if I so desire.

Looks good. If Doxa didn't want you to change the paint color, they wouldn't have designed it to wear away so easily.

The brushed bezel looks great. Did you do it yourself or have it done professionally?

Lol I AM a professional  (you should see the tools I use on my watches - marlin spikes, awls, hammers...)

Yep - I did it all myself with scotchbrite

Nice job. I have been wanting to do the same on my 300T Sharkie.

Pete Millar, he is one fantastic dude.
