1200T Professional vs. 1200T Diving With Legends
1200T Professional vs. 1200T Diving With Legends
I'm not yet a Doxa owner but hope to be very soon. I am trying to decide between ordering a new 1200T Professional vs. finding a nice, pre-owned 1200T Diving With Legends (now sold out). While I may slightly prefer the look of (and history behind) the DWL, a new 1200T would be fantastic too.
Which do you prefer -- do you like the uncluttered 1200T Pro dial or the DWL LE dial?
Would a pre-owned DWL likely set me back more (or less) than a new 1200T? Given that condition is a factor, let's assume the DWL was in great shape -- either 'like new' or close.
Here are pictures of both watches:

It really depends - do you need instant gratification or can you wait? I can't remember the last time I saw a DWL Doxa come up for sale. OTOH, you could order a regular 1200T pro today. Even if you wanted to go second hand, a regular pro would probably come up for sale a lot sooner than a DWL.
Personally, I like the clean dial. I'm not a big fan of specially branded watches (or other things) unless I have some sort of direct relationship to the brand.
FWIW, I owned a 1200T Sharkhunter - I really liked the way it looked, and very comfortable.
Good luck!

I'm not a fan of co-logos on dials.
Re: 1200T Professional vs. 1200T Diving With Legends
The logo was a gimmick to sell more watches, as an le, at a higher price.
Go base 1200t.
Go base 1200t.

I'd do the plain 1200t.

Was just thinking I should have held on to my Numa. Kinda miss that one. You'll be happy with either one. I prefer the regular professional.

Beautiful Caribbean Fred! Would love a 750T too but, given my wrist size (6.75"), the 1200T is probably the place to start.
I thought the DWL would be everyone's choice but the no-logo Pro seems to be preferred so far. Appreciate all the input.

I used to think I liked the uncluttered dial better, but since getting a 300T with the US Diver's Co. logo I think they're kind of cool. Co-branded watches seem to be part of DOXA's DNA.
Re: 1200T Professional vs. 1200T Diving With Legends
After asking a few folks more knowledgeable than myself about the value of Doxa limited edition watches, I think it will be a 1200T Professional for me, rather than a pre-owned 1200T Diving With Legends. I'm new at this and am learning that Doxa prices can escalate on discontinued items. All of which makes me also consider the dark blue NUMA that is still available direct from Doxa! That said, it might have to be orange ;-)

I think that's a good choice. Doxa makes a fine product, and they're pretty unique.JohnFM wrote:After asking a few folks more knowledgeable than myself about the value of Doxa limited edition watches, I think it will be a 1200T Professional for me, rather than a pre-owned 1200T Diving With Legends. As far as Doxa prices escalating on discontinued items, I wouldn't hold my breath (unless your talking about NOS vinrtage or a few vintage pieces that are particularly rare, like an original T-Graph). Doxa isn't Rolex or Patek. There might be some escalation, but I think it's mostly wishful thinking amongst the Doxa fanboys. Most of the prices I see on Watch Recon remain fairly consistent, and they're a good bit below what Doxa retails for. Every now and then you see someone trying to sell one for a higher price, but I don't think they have a lot of success.
All of that said, I'm not sure what the going price for a DWL is, because you don't see very many of them for sale.

Re: 1200T Professional vs. 1200T Diving With Legends
Good call on skiping the helmet.
Btw, I've had them both ( might have sold both to Henry?) and the helmet wasn't worth the added expense on an orange watch. IMO. On the blue Carib, which I've had as well, it's a much better looking helmet and I think it is a better drawing and the white on blue is much more appealing.
I also think the 1200t is one it their finest products - thicker bracelet, better clasp, domed crystal, etc. the size is just about right as well. The 750's fit ok for me on a 7" wrist, but the 1200 is more comfortable as a daily wearer.
Let's see some pics when you get it in and welcome aboard!

Have you considered a 1000t Orange faced Project Aware?
Great watch, very comfortable and LE into the bargain.

Good suggestion. The orange on the PA is a particularly nice shade.lifeboat wrote:Have you considered a 1000t Orange faced Project Aware?

Thanks for the suggestion. It's funny how the little things can matter. For whatever reason, I like the helmet on the 1200T Diving With Legends but not the fish and diver on the 1000T Project Aware. It might be that the co-branded image is even more noticeable on the PA than the DWL. I'm almost embarrassed to be debating which image is better -- maybe the simpler 1200T Pro is the way to go!

You have no reason to feel embarassed.Truth be known i prefer the diving helmet. If i had one i would cherish it. Pity i dont quite feel the same about my PA 1000t, lovely as it is. Good luck with the decision. This watch mania is something else heh?

I think the DWL logo is the best logo ever put on a DOXA
