DOXA Using Soprod Movements
Re: DOXA Using Soprod Movements
Good. I think we will be seeing more of this. ETA will likely change their strategy once they see others (Soprod, Sellita) gaining market share.....

Pre-order is open for the Pro until end of December at $1990. After that the price shoots up to $2590!

Re: DOXA Using Soprod Movements
interesting point, I think Swatch's thought process was to force/push the swiss watch industry to more manufacture/in house production and thus strengthen the swiss branding globally......I guess they didn't think about the option of other companies saying basically "screw you" we're going to use these just as good, if not better in some cases, Soprod, Sellita, et al.hoppyjr wrote:Good. No way I'd pay that for a Doxa. The quality just isn't there at that price. Not to mention the bad customer service we keep hearing about.

Re: DOXA Using Soprod Movements
When ETA decided to stop providing movements to (some) external companies there's no way they wouldn't have expected to see other brands fill the void. My personal opinion on this situation is that ETA doesn't want their movements associated with inexpensive watches (such as Doxa) and is happy to let other companies fill that role and assume the reputation that comes with it. ETA still provides movements to IWC and Tudor.hoppyjr wrote:Good. I think we will be seeing more of this. I'd think hard about a Sharkhunter at $1,990

The Sharkhunter and Searambler won't be available until Summer according to DOXA. It's not clear if they will have intro pricing on those when they become available. Have they done that in the past or only offered intro pricing on the first model released in a new series?demer03 wrote:I'd think hard about a Sharkhunter at $1,990

Lots of info about the Soprod movement on their site...

I think I'll stick with my 750's. There just isn't that much difference... I've always thought their prices were too high...

Re: DOXA Using Soprod Movements
Was reading the Doxa thread on WUS. The 1500 using the Soprod A10 is a special run... Doxa said they will be using ETA movements in everything else for at least 6 more years. He also said the pre-order price for the 1500 applies to all models... Sven has been great to deal with so I think this is probably true
