Which Tool to use

Post by GWFAMI » Thu Dec 13, 2012 7:29 am

Hi,
I have an old DOXA US Divers watch. I'd like to remove the back and see if the mechanism is shot, but I don't know what tool to use.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

GWFAMI

I use a small tennis ball wrapped in duct tape with the sticky side out....cheap and easy to use.

A caseback opener?... Is there something different about that caseback whereas a regular Bergeon type or similar caseback opener wouldn't work?

If you dont know what tool to use to open a caseback, then i think you should leave it alone and let a watchmaker take a look at it.IMHO

Never opened it before, always had U.S. Divers do it. It's been around 20 years since it's been opened.

There are so many tools out there, just wanted to know the best one to use.

I know, got it for Christmas brand new in 1979 when I took my advanced diving course. Santa forgot to take the price tag off, about PMP when I saw the $500 price tag.

You can always send it in-Motor City Watch Works is a trusted and skilled watch dude located in Michigan. He'll give you the info you're looking for. For a sweet watch like that I think it's definately worth it.

Let a watch maker open it up you don't want to damage the case.Your watch just the way it is still worth 500 or more.Below ebay past sell's of Doxa 300T dive watches. If you mess up the case you will devalue your watch
